    Order of drinking beer

We could declare ourselves a Religious Order and get tax breaks to drink beer. I hereby declare myself The Grand Flatulent, High Priest and Keeper of the Sacred Beer Towels.

    Order of drinking beer

I tend to start at the left hand end of the bar and see how far I get before I either fall over or get told to leave.

Best put an extra clothes peg on the washing line.

Certainly windy and wet here. We had several trees down over roads. Fortunately being a largely rural/farming community there is always a passing car that can help. In today's case, by the time a traffic car and I got there there was a farmer with a pickup and a bowsaw there. Two minutes...

    Mobile phones

If you had dash cam or mobile footage (filmed by a passenger obviously) you might have been able to submit it under Op Snap if the local force is in the scheme. Incidentally you can use your phone in an emergency while driving. I used mine to report a car all over the road on my way home from...

Apologies for the Amazon link as I know you are not a fan, but any bookseller should be able to provide this...

    Mobile phones

I think an instant ban for a first offence is a bit draconian, though if you are in your first two years then that is effectively what it is. £200 and 6 points, with no doubt increased insurance is a hefty wedge. The increase of hands free means it is avoidable, though I personally don't even...

I would heartily recommend IAM Roadsmart. (What used to be the institute of advanced motorists). They teach the same system of car control that the police use and ou ave more on your insurance than the annual sub costs.

Youngsters (and other newly qualified drivers) don't realise that the standard penalty of 6 points (and £200 fine) is enough in the first two years of driving to get a licence revoked. That's not just a ban, but you have to reapply for your provisional and resit the test (both parts).

    Mobile phones

Don't be tempted to use your phone while supervising him (if you do) as you are deemed in control of the vehicle. The worst thing is the people I see looking down and fiddling. I can pull them but unless I actually see the device I can't do anything other than issue words of advice.

    Beginner help

My girls were well versed in the use of a bottle opener and pouring when they were young. Sadly they have both grown up and pour beer for their respective other halves. Enjoy it while you can.

    Curry...!!

My wife and I went to Bath for Saturday into Sunday. Very pleasant it was too. For dinner we ended up at this place http://indiantemptation.com Fully vegetarian - not a problem for us, both daughters and other family members are veggies so we eat lots of meat free meals (though if anyone...

Ambulance service 'operating at its limits'

^ I hope your daughter is recovering well. Many moons ago, before I joined the Army, I had a job at a hospital as a clerk in the X-Ray dept. Monday morning was heaving because no one went to A&E on their own time when they could do it in work time. Most of them shouldn't have been there. I...

    Marcus Rashford becomes MBE

You seem to think my reasoning in non-syllogistic. i.e. Arthur has whiskers, all cats have whiskers, Arthur is a cat. This is illogical. (Thank you Mr Spock.). Arthur might be a rat, mouse, dog etc. Correct syllogistic reasoning would be Arthur is a cat, all cats have whiskers, Arthur has...

    Marcus Rashford becomes MBE

Thankfully, cases of genuinely starving children are rare in this country (though rare is not as good as non-existent) my reference to communism seeks to show an extreme generated by zealots. This sort of politics is becoming more prevalent - just look at Cancel Culture where this week a sports...

    Marcus Rashford becomes MBE

As you seem to want me to stay, I will. No, a current criminal will not always be so. There are many who commit crime then never do so again, but there are many who see it as a way of life. You disagree with my references to communism, ok, that's your view. I speak from some knowledge, being...

    Marcus Rashford becomes MBE

Thread unignored to correct a few misunderstandings - Feral underclass was perhaps an mismatch. I substitute criminal underclass (Which I hope does not include those here). Communism is an extreme example, but useful for comparison - how's the future looking in North Korea? What we have at...

    Raid on illegal Bolton distillery

I believe there are auctions of seized equipment through the country. The brewing kit might go for sale.
