    Daft question about sparging

In my Limited experience I match the lauter rate until the calculated sparge water volume has been added and then basically let the MT drain at the same rate. I’m only 6 All Grain brews in, so take this with a pinch of salt until more experienced members chip in?

    Daft question about sparging

I know what you mean! Measuring out dead space etc really helped me dial in the volume and temperatures of water to use.

    Daft question about sparging

I understand that the technique of sparging at the same rate as you lauter keeping the liquid level the same is believed to help ensure thorough rinsing of the sugars from the malt. To drain and then refill is fine (Batch Sparging), but draining and then fly sparging might result in channelling...

    Daft question about sparging

Hi TETB, do you use any resources like Beersmith or Brewfather? My process is exactly like yours but I set the brew day up in Beersmith and use the water volumes from that. Need to set up the equipment profile with dead space etc. to reflect your kit, but I’ve found it really reliable once...

    Fridge for corny kegs

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem is that I don't have a third "Live" keg at any given time!

    Fridge for corny kegs

I currently only have two taps on mine, but spaced to allow a third if I ever get to the point of having more than two beers in at any given time! Seems my Consumption/Production ratio might need adjustment.

    Beer line

During the research before building my Kegerator I came across a few articles which suggested that flow control at the tap is not as useful as flow control at the Keg Liquid Disconnect. Apparently gas is already knocked out of solution by the time it gets to the tap so flow control there is of...

    Fridge for corny kegs

That does look like the new thinner version. I first bought a couple of the reconditioned ones (as Doc Anna mentioned) but had to swap to fit more into the Kegerator I was planning to build. The one in the photo gives much more flexibility in fridge choice, but as has been mentioned by Benfleet...

    Fridge for corny kegs

Hi TETB, is it the new tall thinner kegs you have? If so that’s the same as me. Are you limited to an undercounter fridge? If so I’d suggest considering the models in This thread. There are others, of course, and I’m sure other members will add their thoughts.

Another model which is pretty similar for size is the Bosch KTR18P20GB Logixx Easy Access. There are a few more threads which discuss this like this one

    Beer line

I now have between 1 and 2m of 3/16” beer line to allow balancing of keg pressure for higher carb brews like Wheat beers or lager and control foaming.

    Beer line

Hi Rob, I started off with the same setup and found that the keg pressure needed to be pretty low to stop foaming at the tap. What level of carbonation were you looking to achieve in the beer, and what sort of beer?

    Bloktoberfest - Oktoberfest lager

I totally agree! I currently have my first two attempts at Lagers in the Lagering Fridge. They’re also my first two attempts at Decoction Mashing. Nothing like jumping in with both feet. My Bohemian Pilsner was fermented @ 12C as the Wyeast advice was to ferment warmer to reduce sulphur. Then I...

    Inkbird?

Hi Lisa, I'd started a post, but basically it was everything the The Engineer That Brews said! Temperature consistency is the goal.

    Fridge for 2 Cornies!

StJayJay is bang on, took a bit of measuring and scouring forums to find the Kegmenter "Donor" fridge I wanted on Gumtree/FB Marketplaces. As long as the Compressor Hump at the back/bottom of the fridge is a slimmer version it should be OK. Alternatively, if you are prepared to remove some of...

    Bloktoberfest - Oktoberfest lager

Nice! I just kegged my first Oktoberfest Marzen attempt yesterday and started Lagering. There should be enough time to try this in late July and brew another for Oktoberfest plans in late Sept. At least, that's the plan.
