    Aldi cheap beers

Aldi is pretty much the only place im buying beer right now, till my next brew is ready! They've had a selection of Williams Bros (which I'm a big fan of) for a while now for £1.49 a pop. They've also just started stocking BrewDog Punk IPA, 5am Saint and Dead Pony Club in the 2 stores near...

My wine is 9%. How do I increase the alcohol content to12%?

By my calculation it'll bring it up to about 10.3/10.4%. Having reread your posts you say you might not have mixed the wine thoroughly. If you followed the kit instructions and added the right amount of sugar you might still get to the desired 12%. If the sugar wasn't dissolved properly it...

That sounds ok. It'll be a whole lot easier to add more sugar than it would be to take the extra water out! :)

My wine is 9%. How do I increase the alcohol content to12%?

With an OG of 1068 and an FG of 1000 that comes out bang on 9%. To get up to 12% you'd need a higher OG, which means more fermentables in from the start. Did you add any additional brewing sugar or just the contents of the can? I think the Wilkos kits need sugar added to hit the target ABV.

More time. 4 days is a little quick for it to be finished fermenting! What are the original and final gravity readings that give you the 9%?

    Sediment in bottle AGAIN!

It would be. I got mine from my LHBS. I was looking at eBay when I was writing that and it was just the first picture that was clear! And that listing is £1.89 postage. It's a maximum of £5.95 postage when you buy multiple items from the same seller.

    Sediment in bottle AGAIN!

I use one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fermentation-Bin-Vessel-Clip-for-Syphon-Tub-Homebrew-/180860598830?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item2a1c21ba2e Helps stop the siphon end moving around and stirring up the sediment.

    job interviews

I know the feeling mate. A few years ago I did some volunteering at a computer repair show to try and get some experience. My degree is in Computing but I worked in a pub for 4 years straight out of uni. I stuck it out because I had a bit of money saved to cover bill etc and I was promised full...

I haven't used star san yet myself but I'd use something like this.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sterile-1ml-2ml-5ml-10ml-20ml-50ml-Sealed-Hypodermic-Syringes-Many-Quantities-/231079352377?pt=UK_BOI_Medical_Lab_Equipment_Medical_Supplies_Disposables_ET&var=&hash=item35cd671839

Do you return your own glass?

If the price is excessive, that just means the price for the glass is included. I 'purchased' quite a big collection of glasses this way :D

    brewing resolutions

Having just installed a new kitchen, I believe the bathroom is next on my to do list :) New curtains went up last month! I could always try and play the "but we've saved loads of money because I've done all the work myself" card...Not.

Do you return your own glass?

Yes. Force of habit from working as a bartender for 2 years. I usually take any other empties from the table too. It's also one of those little things that get you noticed by the bar staff at a busyish bar, getting noticed means getting served quicker:)

Now that you say that :( I'm hoping I'll get permission to use a little of the sum we're currently saving every month to upgrade my kit.

    brewing resolutions

I want to brewing AG at some point next year. I get married in April so no spare pennies to get the necessary kit until after that. Hope everyone has a good one!

    One expensive puncture

Brilliant! I'm pretty sure a few years worth of AA/RAC membership would have been cheaper than that is bound to cost to fix!

    Ununiformed batch prime?

I did one with a stir and one without with pretty similar results. I found that laying the end of the siphon on it's side on the bottom of the secondary FV created a sort of swirling effect as the beer was leaving the siphon. It kept swirling all the way to the end. Mixed it up pretty well!
