    bottled it!!!!

Yes, it will. When you open the cap you'll be letting oxygen in which means when you seal it up again it'll only be good for another day or two. If using the same bottle it wont give you a true picture of how the ones that haven't been opened are doing because they'll still be sealed. Best way...

    when should I bottle?

I've not done the kit myself mate but I reckon you'd be ok to bottle it. The kit spec on the home brew shop lists the approx FG as 1.009 so you're not far away!

    Cooling wort with ice?

I think the poor mans way to do it is to freeze some 2l plastic bottles of water and place them in the hot wort. You could leave it to cool naturally but I've read it's better to get the temp down as quick as possible.

    Outside temp and storage

That sounds like a great idea. We've always got hay lying around somewhere for the guinea pig. I was starting to worry about having my beer in my shed at this time of year.:D

Does anyone skin yeast from live brews?

It was worth a shot. Try making a little starter out of it and stepping it up from there. There's always next time:) I started looking into this for when I start brewing AG (the BIAB variety). Looks like a good way of getting more value out of a pack/tube of yeast.

Does anyone skin yeast from live brews?

It's not something I've done myself but I did a little research on it before. This may be of use to you if it's something you're looking to try. http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2686 The poster harvests the yeast from the trub rather than skimming from the krausen.

    bottled it!!!!

You should be fine if they are PET. They'll just be really fizzy. I had one batch that I obviously didn't stir properly and all the sugar must have ended up in the last bottle (coopers PET) and the bottle got a bit mishapen and swollen but it didn't burst. I wouldn't have thought that only 2...

    bottled it!!!!

I've gone as high as 8g per litre which is about 1 3/4 teaspoons with no I'll effects or bottle bombs. Are we talking about 2 heaped or 2 flat? That will make a difference. Edit :- Just reread my post. I'm taking about per litre not per 500ml bottle. You might have a problem. At least it's...

    Please tell me...

This makes a lot of sense.Cleaning 1 bottle like that takes no time at all. Its cleaning 40 at once that's a nightmare. I just need to get into the habit of washing the bottles out as I use them.

    Please tell me...

I'd looked into star san before and thought it looked pretty good but isn't it just a steriliser? If you are reusing bottles that you'd have to clean them first, which takes time. I'm using VWP atm because it cleans and sterlises, same as the thin bleach I guess. Am I thinking about this...

    Coopers Lager Brew Gravity Stuck

You might need to degas the sample. Put your hand over the end of the jar and shake, and let the gas out. Repeat a few times. Let it settle and take another reading. Another way would be to pour it between two cups/containers 30 times. That will knock all the gas out and give you an accurate...

    Best commercial beer

+1 I used to buy a lot of their Joker IPA but I got a bad bottle a couple of months ago, didn't taste right at all, and it kinda put me off. Since then Caesar Augustus is where it's at. I'm a big brewdog fan, my usual is Punk IPA in bottles but Hardcore IPA and Jackhammer on draught at the bar.

    Forgot priming sugar

I'd crack them and prime the bottles before re capping. If you don't add sugar they probably wont come in at all because there will be no sugar left to carbonate the beer. So unless you like them really flat I'd get opening and just drink one less while you're at it this time :-D

    ready to drink....when???

It's sweet because the yeast hasn't had time to convert the sugar into alcohol yet:) After only 4 days it's not time to worry just yet. Like was mentioned above, leave it 2 weeks in the FV and then take another reading, it'll be lower. If you have another sneaky taste then I bet the sweetness...

    Fermentation Fridge operational!

After picking up a fridge off gumtree a few months back, I finally got round to turning it into a fermentation fridge. The STC1000 and tube heater arrived during last week and I put it all together yesterday. I had to cut the shelves off the door to get the FV to fit but other than that it...

    Temperature Controller

Pretty sure it's meant to be a temp control for a fermentation fridge with one heat source and one cooling, rather than to run two heat sources for a boiler. If i hadn't just bought all the bits to make my own I'd probably have got one!
