    It sounds like you are talking about a pressure barrel rather than a keg, that might account for not getting the info you want when googling.

    Nah, it'll be fine. The yeast will still do it's job. And it won't affect strength, the all the good stuff in still in there!

    Did you mix after topping up? If you just put the water in and took the reading it might still be concentrated at the bottom. The strength of final beer will be normal because all the sugar/fermentables will be eaten but you'll get false low hydrometer readings if you take it from the top.

    The OG could be showing high if your boil off rate was more than allowed for in the recipe. Same sugar in less volume would mean higher gravity. How high does the scale on your refractometer? Is it a limited range, that tops out at less than 1.065?

    Just had a look at the listing and if you select the 4kg option it shows an actual VWP tub :laugh8: It seems likely that it is VWP bought in bulk and repacked. Not sure how the price compares! Edit: Scratch that, the listing actually says that it is repacked VWP

    I've just taken delivery of some Five, Beoir and a Kentucky. Noticed that the blurb on the Kentucky pack says its suitable for Kolsch, might have to do a side by side with some K97 I have lying around!

    If the oats have settled out I dont think it'll be an issue. You boiled them so there wont be anything nasty in there. I'd let it ride and see what happens.
