Very cheap Mash tun at Costco

Posted in the offers thread but thought more people would see it here. https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/%C2%A347-igloo-cooler-for-mash-tun.87379/

£47 Igloo Cooler for Mash Tun

Still nowhere near the $20 I paid for one of these in the states, but this is the cheapest I've ever seen one in the UK https://www.costco.co.uk/Sports-Spas-Leisure/Camping/Cool-Boxes/Igloo-Maxcold-58-Litre-62-US-QT-Cool-Box/p/1356920 Apparently a £6 off code too, but hasn't been provided yet...

    Fabricated mash tun basket

I really like the look of that too. Will keep a look out for when they are back in stock, although I really do want a basket in the long run :laugh8:

I know mate - BEST BUY - 12inch PIZZA PAN 304 Surgical Stainless Steel But like I said, I preferred the BBQ grill method instead, which is also 304

    Fabricated mash tun basket

Again, thanks for all your help and info! I got the 15 gallon Brewtech, which is 40mm wide and 48mm tall internally. I could get the 30cm tall grain basket as I plan to do smaller 5-10 gallon batches to start with (just getting back into things) but I think I'd be pushing it with a 10 gallon...

    Fabricated mash tun basket

Forgot I did see that too, it's the right width but 15cm shorter than my kettle and I think 5cm legs would be too short too

    Fabricated mash tun basket

OP, I've found a few Chinese fabricators that look pretty cheap, like this one - [Hot Item] 300 400 Micron Stainless Steel Beer Brewing Filter Grain Basket I've sent my specs along and will let you know the prices they come back with.

    Fabricated mash tun basket

Also an option I'm willing to try, I've seen people use a stainless steel pizza tray with bolts, which is like the Powell Brewing one but would cost £15 instead of £50. Also thought of doing the same but with a cheap bbq grill, as it only really needs to stop the bag falling through.

    Fabricated mash tun basket

This is what I need, but I can only ever find them dimensions. For me it is too short, too narrow and not long enough legs. If anyone finds a larger version, let me know.

Cheapest place to buy Silicone O-Rings?

Here you go - 2.4mm Red Rubber O Ring Seal Plumbing Garage HIGH TEMP, Food Grade AD=8~68mm | eBay I ordered 26*2.4mm to fit my half inch fittings and they are the perfect size. I haven't tested them yet under heat so can't vouch for their quality, but they look and feel exactly like any other...

    Best Tubing Mash Tun-Boiler-Mash Tun?

I bought one of them a few years ago, I think it came with a 3/4" barb as I seem to remember having one of them sitting around. I swapped it for a 1/2" quick disconnect though. I'd shoot them a message, they might even swap whatever size barb it is to the one you prefer for your tubing. EDIT...

Cheapest place to buy Silicone O-Rings?

Just 2 weeks later, my order of 50 has arrived from China. These are the exact same as the ones that come with the SS Brewtech kettle, but they cost me £2.50 rather than £50+

Can't speak for OP, but my element would scorch a bag, so I'd need something in-between the two anyway.

Any benefit to building an Inkbird PID box?

That Pi looks very cool but a little overkill for me if I'm honest, maybe in a few years :laugh8: Quick question to anyone that might know, my electricity knowledge isn't great. The Inkbird 308 says max output of 10A. If I bought one to use for brewing to start with (plan to run a brew fridge...

Whirlpool necessary with SS Brewtech dip tube?

I have a SS Brewtech kettle that I am yet to brew with, but plan to do BIAB. I'll be using a hop spider. I have always used a false bottom attached to a pick up tube on my kettles before, so not familiar with the Brewtech dip tube style. I will be recirculating with a pump during mash, is it...

Any benefit to building an Inkbird PID box?

Grainfather website says 2000W heating for their control box, so I guess it will take a little longer to heat up than if I build my own? I plan to use a 2.4kw element, maybe higher.

Any benefit to building an Inkbird PID box?

Ideally I'd like to have something like this, which I can't find in the UK, hence why I thought about building one myself. Temp controller with heat and pump switch. https://www.ink-bird.com/products-PID-controller-ipb16s.html
