I had a bottling gun to was a bad experiance, the bottles and the beer both needed to be chilled, the tubes dragged the beer still foamed during bottling. I now have a proper counter pressure filler. Aamcle

You should be Ok, youngster ma need something to cool the wort for instance a counterflow chiller like the one with a GrainFather. Aamcle

Don't panic, check the element use a multimeter, check the controller. If there is no easy or cost effective replacement look in the correct section of the forum you will find out how to fit a 3rd party element and build a new controller. Atb. Aamcle

Evening. What kits would you recommend for splitting in to 2 x 11l batches? I'm finding AG a bit of an effort at the moment and 23l all at once takes so long to get through the beer fades. The idea is that I use half the wort from a kit to make beer and put the other half in the freezer...

Get them from the company that supplies your water, sending off for testing is fine but the water coming from your tap may well vary in composition through the year. I use the rolling average figure from United Utilities. Atb

Don't get too hung up on expensive kit when diy is cheap, I built one it works but I usually use a 5L ashbeck bottle and shake. It is somewhat less efficient but it works it's simple, very little trouble and gets a second use from a throwaway container. Atb. Aamclep
