I already have 2 inkbirds, but this would be a great upgrade!

    Speed limiting technology [Poll]

This new regulation has been massively miss-reported. There will be no requirement to apply brakes or reduce engine torque, the requirement will only be to ALERT the driver that they are exceeding the speed limit (as a number of cars already do). Manufacturers may choose to offer the option of...

    GrainFather v other systems.

Saw this on amazon the day after paying £350 for the same system badged differently (although that one was sold by lhbs which is a massive bonus if it breaks!). Doubt they will get much cheaper than this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MYAFGKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_kl8MCb17W3W9S

    Calling all Klarstein Owners.

The wattage of a circuit is the voltage squared divided by the resistance, so for 2 different voltages you would have to have different circuitry. If not, the US system would be quarter the wattage of the EU system. Looking at the klarstein, they have 2 physical switches to set wattage, then a...

Honda confirms Swindon car plant closure

Interesting they use an Audi engine in that video. We benchmarked a q5 a few years ago, and couldn’t work out how they met the rules with an adblue tank half the size of ours - turns out you only need a tiny tank if you turn the system off when the car isn’t in a test lab!! Adblue combined with...

Honda confirms Swindon car plant closure

The regulations (ie the new wltp cycle and eu6 emission limits, plus crash standards and others) are set by the unece group, in which the eu nations effectively have a casting vote, however any car sold must meet these standards (gasoline or diesel). The “demonisation” of diesel is very much on...

    Hangover beer mistakes

It’s been many many years since I did A level chemistry, but I believe the adehyde has lower enthalpy/entropy (can’t remember which), which basically means it is in a lower energy state that the alcohol. Therefore to turn it back to an alcohol you would need to put energy in, in the presence of...

    Klarstein fermenter

Aaah I currently use a brew belt and inkbird. Why is it not reccomended to use one with the klarstein?

    Klarstein fermenter

Has anyone tried one of the Klarstein fermenters (which they call a mash kettle?!)? I’ve been seriously coveting one of the SS brew buckets, but the fact the klarstein ones are half the price is pretty attractive, even if it does lack the thermowell and nifty rotating racking arm (not sure if...

    ISpindel & Ubidots

I put the formula into the setup page where you put your WiFi details, and it sends the gravity directly to ubidots as a variable. I initially setup a formula in ubidots just to validate the gravity from the ispindel, but once I’d convinced myself they were giving the same value I just went...

    Hangover beer mistakes

The dehydration generally happens once you’re done peeing. Alcohol will naturally dehydrate tissue as it breaks down. There is more than enough liquid in beer to make up for this, but the problem is you tend to pee all of that liquid out long before your liver manages to clear the alcohol from...

    Hangover beer mistakes

There are 2 part to a hangover. One is the dehydration, which leads to the "my brain is pulling on the back of my eye balls" headache, due to the membrane surrounding the brain actually shrinking. The second part is the chemical bit. Alcohol (ethanol) breaks down in the body by oxidation into...

    My cheap, simple AG setup

Do either of you guys use any sort of temperature controller? I have an old fermentation bucket that I was thinking about using to make a ebiab setup, but it would be handy if I could hold a mash temperature.

    Vitality starter

I was more tempted to try it to get the yeast well oxygenated, having had a couple of stalled fermentations, and having scratched up the inside of a fv using a beer paddle on a drill. If I can do a 3 hour vitality starter then just chuck it straight into work without having to oxygenate then...

    Vitality starter

Have you tried it with dried yeast? I'm not that bothered about harvesting, but if it's an easy way to guarantee a strong fermentation without any other wort oxygenation I'd be very interested to try.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

If you can solder then I think it’s worth it. If you have £150 to drop on a tilt then it may well be an easier option, but as far as I know the tilt needs you to take you phone nearby to connect with Bluetooth, whereas the spindle you drop in and then it connects to your WiFi and sorts itself out.
