    Calling all Klarstein Owners.

I was in a similar place a few months ago. I started at a £60 pico brew with an analogue temp controller, then walked to the digital one for £100, then the klarstein you linked above, all in the basis they would be good for extract then could go on to BIAB. In the end I went for the ~£350...

Drip tray on front of Fridge

I thought about doing something similar. My first attempt was to just screw it which didn't last. The plasterboard plugs can comfortably home a 1 lite Pyrex jug full of liquid, and I've walked into it a few times without any lasting damage. You can also unhook the tray easily to wash, and it...

Drip tray on front of Fridge

The problem I found was that the outer skin of a fridge door was very thin metal, so wouldn’t support much with just self tappers. The plaster board plugs distribute the force across the back. These are the sort of thing I’ve got...

Drip tray on front of Fridge

I used plaster board rawlplugs, the ones with a metal tube, with 4 legs that open out when you tighten the screw. They work a treat.

    Stuck fermentation

No, no I did not. Now you say it I can't believe I did that! I'll keg it tomorrow and take a proper hydrometer reading. If it gets drunk it gets drunk.

    Stuck fermentation

I’ve never used amylase before. How much do you need and how long does it take? Can you just chuck it straight into the fermenter?

    Stuck fermentation

I seem to have got my first stuck fermentation. I was aiming for a stone ipa clone, and hit 1.060 og, but totally forgot to chill my starter wort, and dumped yeast straight into a near boiling starter. I ditched that and chucked in a (with hindsight quite old) pack of us-05. Fermentation never...

Product preview:- Plaato Keg info & prototype show & tell

Looks very interesting. Roughly how reasonable is “reasonably priced”? Do the usb power banks last a decent time, of do you really need them to be plugged into the mains?

    Notre Dame Pale Ale

Where did you get the digital one from? I’ve looked a couple of times, but have never found one for less than £100.

    tilt vs ispindle vs plaato

There was an article on github about someone who integrated an antenna into his stainless fermenter to effectively carry the ispindel signal out of the fermenter. A WiFi repeater next to your fermenter might be an easier solution...

    tilt vs ispindle vs plaato

The bit about which way the battery connection goes onto the board. It said something like "make sure the notch is pointing towards to board", which I did, but then missed the bit about checking polarity by plugging the connector in with red and black wires. Realised I'd got it wrong when it all...

“Probably not the best beer in the world. So we've changed it.”

Having visited the old brewery in Copenhagen, where they have all of their home-market beers on tap, I can attest to the fact they are more than capable of making good beer. On the tour they even made a joke about “this is out nice beer, if you live in the UK you will never have tasted it!”

    tilt vs ispindle vs plaato

I bought one of the ispindel kits (~£50 posted), and have been really happy with it. There was a mistake in the instructions which led to me frying the charger circuit, but they replaced the parts for me FoC. Building was pretty straightforward if you know how to solder (I haven’t done it...

Klarstein Maischfest - Mash Water calculation

Ah apologies, I’ve probably given you some duff information in that case as mine does have a pump, so all of the liquid ends up getting recirculated. That ratio worked fine for the first couple of brews, then number 3 had a load of oats and no rice hulls, so no volume of water could get it going!

Klarstein Maischfest - Mash Water calculation

The advice I got when I bought my mibrewery (klarstein badged differently) was a very specific sounding 3.27l of water per kg of grain.

Cold sparge or full volume boil on all in one system

Ive done a couple of brews now on my mibrewery (same as ace/klarstein/brew devil etc.), and the one thing that prevents it being a true one-vessel brew day is the need to heat sparge water. Has anyone tried either full volume mash, or cold water sparging (or any other method) with one of these...

    Grain father to pour process

It sounds like you’re doubling up on carbonation. You only need the carbonation sugar if you are carbonating naturally (ie by extra fermentation, such as in bottles). If you are force carbonating with CO2 you can skip this.

    Speed limiting technology [Poll]

Most of the systems are around 85% accurate. The same camera can also generally do lane departure warning / lane keep assist, auto high beam, and emergency braking (some systems also need a radar for this). I'm a fully payed up member of the "knob German car" drivers club. I do ~75 miles a day...

    Speed limiting technology [Poll]

The legislation will require automotive companies to assist drivers in maintaining the speed limit. The feedback I’ve had is that for 2022, a warning will be sufficient to make the car legal to sell in the EU. You are correct on the data logging bit, but again this is something that is already...
