    Quick conditioning stout

Does anyone have advice / a recipe for a stout that could be ready to drink fairly quickly? The last couple of batches I’ve made have taken a couple of months to smooth out in a bottle, but I was hoping to keg one and have it ready for Christmas.

    Robobrew and Grainfather false bottom

Does this do a good job of filtering out the hot break material too? I’ve ended up with a huge amount of trub in the bottom of my fermenter a few times unless I leave it to settle out for half an hour or so, so being able to drain straight out would be a big bonus.

    I bought mine from AliExpress.

    Favourite ‘convenient’ Meal

Spaghetti carbonara - you can cook it from scratch in about 10 minutes and it’s full of pancetta and cheese!

When you connect to the ispindel, one of the other pages shows the temperature and tilt values, so that should tell you if the tilt and temp are reading correctly. whenever I’ve set them up I‘be our router details in and clicked save, then it had reset and no longer been visible, so didn’t...

How do you know it’s not connecting to your router? Have you set up a ubidots account or similar?

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

One tip I found - try and get a v3 or later d1 wemos. The v2 has a big chip on top which makes it difficult to get into the petling, and the connector is also on the wrong side to plug into once the d1 is soldered to the pcb.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Haven’t measured energy usage, but I dont think they’re the most efficient. I saw a couple of builds on Pinterest that had one computer cooling radiator / fan attached to the hot side of the peltier outside a cooler box, and a second radiator / fan attached to the cold side inside the cooler.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

This is the furthest I’ve got so far - cooled 8l of water to 4 degrees below ambient after an hour or so. I haven’t decided yet if I want to modify my fast ferment lid, or wait until I get a brew bucket with a cooling coil.

    New CML yeasts

Yeah, I put a sachet of haze into a flask of wort a while ago to try and get it going before dumping into a batch that had stalled, and there was krausen on the top within a couple of hours.

That screen shot was from brewfather which is web based. I believe fermentrack can track both beer and ambient / chamber temperature, and can use the ispindel as an input for switching heating / cooling with as part of a brew pi setup, which does run on raspberry pi. I would like to build a...

    New CML yeasts

I did an ESB with the CML four. It was only a 10l batch, and I did pitch the whole pouch (directly into the fermenter after about half an hour with an air pump / stone), but 36 hours from pitch to full attenuation was pretty impressive!

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

The brewfather integration is brilliant. I did the 3 week trial and instantly signed up for paid membership. I was using BeerSmith but won’t renew that membership when it expires. I was quoted $60 for 20 boards, of which about half was postage. You can buy the v1 pcb kits with the sleds...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

The PCBs are available from PCB way, but you need to order a few to justify the postage. I’d probably be interested in a few more if you do put an order in. https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/iSpndel_4_0.html I haven’t used one with raspberry pi myself (yet), but I believe you can...

    Reducing trub into fermenter

Yeah saw that. I don’t mind a bit of trub, but I have a tap around the 1 litre mark for legging / bottling, and it’s often covered by trub.

    Reducing trub into fermenter

Do you poor from a tap at the bottom, or literally poor (ie from the top?) Also what do you mean by overflow pipe?

    Reducing trub into fermenter

Has anyone got any good ways of reducing the kettle trub going into the fermenter? I normally brew with a guten all in one (hopcat/ace/klarstein), or sometimes do stove top BIAB for smaller batches. In both cases I ferment in a fast ferment (30l for the guten, 11l for the BIAB), and I almost...

How to build a stir plate for less than ten quid

mine is similar in that you have to turn it all the way up to get it moving, but as soon as you get that initial movement you can turn it back down before the speed gets too high.

    Hazy Jane DIY Dog

That does look very expensive for what it is. I don’t think NEIPA would work in a pb. It’s really sensitive to oxygen so you need a system which you can purge with CO2, so realistically you need kegs.

There’s a good let’s list on the github. I’ve got all of the photos to write a build guide, just need to find the time to sit down and do it.
