Quick, Easy, Summery Brew - HELP ME!

Good shout definitely a brew that can be drunk very early and no issue with cloudiness as its expected for a wheat

Quick, Easy, Summery Brew - HELP ME!

Keep it simple grain wise or just single malt as less complexity should help for quick conditioning, use the notty yeast, again for quick ferment and clearing. Recipe wise an english style pale/golden ale is a pretty safe bet and not face meltingly hoppy! Summer Lightning recipe is a good...

    Defining beer styles

Spot on, the term IPA seems pretty meaningless when its used on most real ales these days and more often than not doesn't match up to how the BJCP would define the style for English IPA. In fact a lot of 'craft' IPAs are probably more authentic in terms of strength, IBUs and hoppiness which for...

    Brew table

Assume you are testing with just water in it at the moment? Bear in mind that mash with grains in will hold that heat a lot better over the hour so losses shouldn't be as bad. Agree with JB though knock up a coolbox mash tun if you can

    Late Hops and Myrcene Evaporation

I agree the temperature difference means its not necessarily relevant to your idea Tony but the way I read it he added one batch of FO hops immediately to the wort but cooled the other batch to 78c before adding the FO hops. As he says himself at the end though this could still support the...

Syphoning, preparing for, then best way to leave crap behind?

Yes this is how I always dry hop, I would rather have hops/pellets floating free so there is maximum surface area in contact with the beer. I find given time and if necessary a cold crash pellets should settle out to the bottom and will only trouble your filter when trying to get the last litre...

Syphoning, preparing for, then best way to leave crap behind?

Put a small muslin bag (sterilised) over the end of the syphon dip tube thingy and it will stop hops and large particles getting through, if you are syphoning to a PB don't stress about it cos the crap will settle out at the bottom anyway

Why does my AG beer taste so bad??

I would put the VWP as your prime suspect for this type of flavour in beer, back in my kit brewing days I had a few bottles that developed this sort of problem and I was using VWP to sanitise the bottles. At the time I wasnt aware it could affect taste and was not as fastidious about rinsing as...

    UK Homebrewing Magazine?

The name thing is really starting to annoy me now, lots of great suggestions above but almost all of them clash with an existing company/website! What about something a bit more abstract The Trub perhaps?? or just go simple Homebrewer Magazine?

    UK Homebrewing Magazine?

Like the water report idea that could be a really good resource or feature. I do agree with you on the benefit of a paper edition but small run printing costs seem prohibitively expensive so would need some sort of established readership first. I find that digital magazines never really work...

    UK Homebrewing Magazine?

Thanks for all the ideas everyone, keep them coming! Lots of good names as well, difficult to find something that isnt already used or extremely similar to something else though. My working title of brew it yourself not only exists as a book already but someone also has a webpage/blog of that...
