    Preparing bottles for bottling.

I rinse mine with water once I pour the beer and store them til bottling day. On bottling day they get 15-30 mins in vwp, rinse with water, drip dry on bottle tree, then a few squirts of starsan from a bottle washer, let most of the liquid drip out and fill with beer. The vwp is probably...

5 litre Batches of Beer. Why?

For much the same reasons as outlined above, I alternate between 5 and 12 litre batches for the following reasons: quicker to heat strike water lower weight of grains to lift/dispose of quicker ti reach boil quicker to cool post boil i can buy nicer kit in smaller sizes (ss brewtech brew bucket...

    Ireland 0 - 1 Luxembourg

Oh yeah I’m Irish but lived in London for a number of years, and some of my best friends are English, but when it comes to sport I enjoy seeing you guys getting beaten 🙂

It’s not like the “anyone but England” mentality is without good reason 🤷‍♂️

    First BIAB

To answer OP, I’m not sure how big of a batch you’re making, but I have done a few full volume biab mashes in a buffalo boiler with 15 litres of water and 3-5kg of grain and it doesn’t lose much temperature over a 1 hour mash, so you shouldnt need the heating element on. check your temperature...

    First BIAB

https://brulosophy.com/2014/06/02/the-great-trub-exbeeriment-results-are-in/ I very rarely worry about trub unless I’m maxing out the capacity of my fermenter

    Colm89’s Brewdays

Despite fermenting almost at ale temps, the Wyeast 2112 took a while longer than yeasts I’m used to before it finished! By day 5 it had hit target final gravity so I bumped the temperature up from 16 degrees to 19 degrees, planning to check back in two days to confirm it was finished, and start...

    Mini Kegs

That’s a good idea actually, had never considered that myself. Don’t see why it wouldnt work but interested to hear others views.

    Mini Kegs

Sorry, I was responding to your question around co2 flushing. I serve at 7-15 psi depending on the beer.

    Mini Kegs

If priming with sugar I don’t, but if carbonating with co2 I do. I fill it with starsan and force it through the tap with co2, but that’ll use another bulb and is quite wasteful. I’m hoping to pick up a sodastream canister as I bought the adapter for my regulator.

    Mini Kegs

I got an ikegger 5 litre keg in december and had a lot of the same questions you guys have prior to receiving it so hopefully I can impart some knowledge here. carbonating with co2: I put it in the fridge and hit it with max pressure in the regulator as soon as I fill the keg for 24 hours, and...

    Klarstein v's Burco setup

You can just reduce your batch size for bigger beers if needed

    Klarstein v's Burco setup

I removed the majority of the electrics from my buffalo and now it’s effectively a cable directly to the element, so it holds a strong rolling boil. I added a 3 piece 1/2” ball valve and a layer of reflectix and a full volume biab mash would only lose maybe 1 degree over an hour long mash, and...

    Colm89’s Brewdays

I sort of forgot about updating this for the last brew, but I dry hopped it on Sunday 28Feb, and started cold crashing with a rag soaked in starsan over the bung hole on 2nd March. I filled 4 bottles and put the rest in my ikegger mini keg on 3rd March. So far the kegged beer has been delicious!

    Does anyone use...

I bought the urn a few months ago, replaced the tap with a ball valve, and just used it to heat mash water up to temp, and stirred and checked temperature across the duration of the mash, carefully heating if needed. since then I have added a few quick disconnects, a dc pump, a pt100...
