    Build your own chiller

I made mine from 10m of 10mm pipe. It depends on what time of year and the temperature of the tap water. In the summer it can take up to 45mins, and in the winter as little as 20mins.

    All grain Supplies

I'm another one who buys in bulk from Malt Miller. My LHBS doesn't really cater for AG brewing, so I buy in bulk online. I have recently bought a mill to crush my own grain, as I read that uncrushed grain stays fresher for longer.

    iPhone brewing software?

I use Brewers Friend on my IPhone. It does everything I want it to apart from measure my Brewhouse Efficiency. (for that I use the Brewers Friend website)

    Google Maps.

If I use Google Maps (Satellite mode) using Edge, It mirrors the map diagonally, looks very weird. Works ok in Explorer though.

    Back again!

It seems a lot of us use similar methods, I also use VWP, rinse well and then use Starsan. Never had a problem so far with this method.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

This is what I did this year. I had 3.5kg of Fuggles to dry out, so made some frames with a fine mesh stapled to it. I then put them on trestles in my garage and put a fan on them. They took about 3 days to dry out and would of been even quicker if I didn't turn the fan off over night. I...

    Dilemma...

Have a go at AG, look up stove top brewing, you don't need loads of kit and you probably have most of it already. At least you will find out if you like AG brewing....

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I bought the Andrew James vacuum sealer from Amazon. I also bought the bags on a roll. It works very well. It's not the cheapest, but it feels well built.

    Bottle or Pressure Barrel

Serving temperatures also seem to be a personal preference. I like my beers served at 12°c, including IPAs. Some people don't chill their kegs at all. I think the colder the beer, the less taste seems to come through, again, its a personal thing. A Corny keg set up is one of these...

    Bottle or Pressure Barrel

You will get a mixed response to this question. I have bottled and used pressure barrels in the past. I am now moving on to a Corny set up. All have their pros and cons, so it comes down to personal preference and space. I have read somewhere that storing in larger volumes is better..... but...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Yeah I checked it, all looked and smelt great. The tips of the cones were starting to turn brown when on the plant, so I thought it was time to harvest.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

So I started out with 3545g of Fuggles on Saturday. I have been drying them in the garage with a fan and have ended up with 1156g. I wasn't sure how long to leave them, but they felt very dry and papery last night, so I bagged them up using my vacuum sealer. They were drying for about two and...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Well, it has been a total fluke growing the hops this year. I am a hopeless gardener, but just followed sound advice from these forums. I am amazed how well the Fuggle has done this year, really wasn't expecting much. I'll post up my final weight. Not sure how long that will take?

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I have been growing a Fuggle and a Progress for the first time this year. The Fuggle has always been a bit ahead of the Progress and that is true of harvest too. I picked all the cones from the Fuggle today as they were papery and the tips were starting to brown. The Progress needs another few...
