    Cool box mash tun question

I use a bag in my cool box mash tun, have done so since I started brewing. It works great for me. The only thing I have to do is hold my mash paddle in front of the outlet to keep the wort flowing while draining. I batch sparge and it makes cleaning up afterwards a breeze. Never had any issues...

    Defrosting.

I’ve just bought a new Vauxhall Insignia and it has a heated windscreen, clears in about 2 mins. It also has heated mirrors, heated seats and a heated steering wheel...... When I get to work in the morning I don’t want to get out of the car.... I love it.

    Help

Welcome to this great hobby.. I have bottled, used pressure barrels and now use Corny Kegs in the last two years. I can't stand bottling, too much faffing around and takes too long for me. The pressure barrels are good, so long as you are prepared to tinker with them to get them to seal...

    Mash and HLT temp monitoring

I use a 300mm Dial Thermometer like one of these https://www.tester.co.uk/eti-heavy-duty-dial-thermometer-with-300mm-length-probe?fee=3&fep=16302&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI67a57vn31wIVFRMbCh109gt3EAQYASABEgIFCvD_BwE Not sure if it will suit your set up? But I use a coolbox mash tun and I just drilled...

Cleaner / Sanitiser / CleanerSanitizer Hell!

I use VWP for cleaning and StarSan as a sanitiser. It works well for me, just need to make sure the VWP is well rinsed. I use it on plastic and metal and works very well.

    Electric Keggle

I'm no electrician, but I'm pretty sure you cant attach a 5.5kw element to a 3 pin plug and put it in a standard socket? I had an electrician put in a dedicated supply for my kettle. I use 2 x 2.5kw elements in my home made boiler.

    Is this normal?

I use a 100ml syringe. I just spray the end with StarSan and draw up about 70ml, which is enough for my trial jar. Nice and easy and never had a problem with poor sanitation.

    Black Friday Deals

I've just bagged a few bargains on Beerhawk. Seems they were very busy as their website was a bit glitchy and slow.

    Airlock

I used to use airlock, then I read that some people just cracked the lid open, which seems nice and easy to me. So my last 4 brews have been fermented without an airlock at all. No problems so far.

    C02 Tanks and Suppliers

I would shop around. I was looking for Co2 in the summer and was looking at about £80 to get going with one until Hoddy put me on to a local supplier. In the end I got two 6KG cylinders for £24 delivered!! I reckon these two will last me a long time.... Where are you located, someone...

    Grain crusher

I recently bought this one from Malt Miller https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=738 It works very well with a cordless drill. I attached mine to the lid of an old FV and it keeps everything clean and together. It looks very similar to the bulldog one in your picture.

    8 gram C02 bulbs

I have bought them online before, they were sent by a courier, not Royal Mail. I can't remember which one, but I'm sure you could find one that will send them.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I am really pleased with my Fuggles and Progress hops that I grew this year. I have made (and drunk) a pale ale using both and it went down really well. I have also brewed a stout and a porter using the Fuggles, both are conditioning but my test taste of the stout was very encouraging. It...
