  1. Little Rock Brewing

    AlderneyBrew's Brewdays.

Just boiling a Dark Revolution Super Sonic pale. No hops at start of boil, just 30g simcoe at 15 mins then Amarillo and Simcoe at flame out. Dry hop with Citra. That's my Cascade hop plant in the background.

    Cloudy ChemSan woes

Well I boiled some of my air-con distilled water and made a spray bottle of chem-san. Like your's it's crystal clear and foamy. Figured boiling would kill off any nasties. Lets face it Bear Grylls drinks far worse water! 😂

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Heretic Brewing Evil Twin. Still not clear but I don't care. 😁
  4. Little Rock Brewing

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

A pint of Deviant, and AG kit from Dark Revolution. Absolute citrus flavour bomb!
  5. Little Rock Brewing

    What did you brew today?

Not strictly a brew day. 23 litres of hard seltzer, or magic water as I call it! 🤣

    Cloudy ChemSan woes

I collected some water from an air-con condensation pipe to see if it's any good for Chem-san and hey presto it's crystal clear. My Chem-san from tapwater is always very cloudy. I'd heard that A/C drain water is distilled water, could be useful.

    What did you brew today?

Brewed the Tropical England Pale Ale from the Crossmyloof recipe. Pitched some home harvested Pia yeast. Really good brewday with great efficiency. Hit all the numbers perfectly too.

Just Not Hitting the O.G. Numbers.

My Malt Miller orders come by DHL. I'll give it a try though. But I'm back in the £15 postage range with them so it'll have to wait until I need a load of grain.

I did get some gypsum and magnesium sulphate though. :confused.:

Just Not Hitting the O.G. Numbers.

Well here's a thing. Royal Mail won't post CRS/AMS as it's an acid! So fat chance of me ever getting my hands on any. Crossmyloof explained to me when I ordered some today.

Just Not Hitting the O.G. Numbers.

    This is the full report.

Just Not Hitting the O.G. Numbers.

Wow! I order all my hops and yeast from the guys at CML. I'll knock together a little order and see how it goes. I'm sure they will contact me, as they do, if there is a problem. Cheers AJA for the reasearch!

Just Not Hitting the O.G. Numbers.

Actually my daughter has a 4 stage RO filter for her marine fish tank. I have used RO before for hard seltzer. Reckon i'll do as you say and do a 50/50 mix for the next brew. I've got 6 AG kits to get through before I do another order. The postage is actually really reasonable, but only if I...

Brewing mistakes you really wish you'd avoided...

I once got a little too enthusiastic on brewday with sampling previous brews (like you do). I went back in the garage to see how the wort chiller was doing, tripped and knocked the Brewzilla off it's stand. Another smashed lid and sticky wort all over my new Monkeybike.

Diesel prices reach record of over £1.80 a litre

£2.18 a litre here. Good job the Island is only 3 1/2 miles long and 1 1/2 wide. :D

Just Not Hitting the O.G. Numbers.

I just use the strips, which max out at 6.2. Tests over the last 2 brews have been solidly on the max. I will get into adjusting with CRS etc but postage is £15 for a bottle so it'll have to part of a bigger order. My next brew will have some crystal malts in which, so I've read, should lower...
