    Is my yeast impotent

Just made 27l of Grolsch clone - i used Wyeast 2007 Pilsen Lager yeast which was made at the begiinning of April (3.5 months old) I smacked it as usual around 4 hours before putting into the wort - stored it in the airing cupboard (22 degrees) but it didnt seem to swell, certainly not as much...

    Hefeweizen Kit Recommendations

AG is calling - i would get cheapo AG equipment if only to make a decent Hefeweizen. Really easy, extremely cheap and if you use the right yeasts & temperatures you will get a wheat beer which is on a par with Franciskaner / Paulaner etc

    Christmas beer.

I got SG of 1072 too - 21.5 litres though as i scaled down the batch at the last minute to make sure i could fit the grains in the mash-tun. I took your advice and ditched the black malt and chucked in a bit more chocolate  Fermentation went mental after 24 hours and blew the airlock...

    Cooper's ox-bar pet bottles

Yeah they are from Flaschenland.de. The metal bits they sent me look very strong - thicker than the normal grolsch ones and i have never had any problems using them.

    Cooper's ox-bar pet bottles

I have just this evening binned 100 or so of these as had 126 swing top bottles delivered from germany yesterday for a cost only a bit more than them plastic jobs. I dont like the coopers bottles, they look naff and its near impossible to stick any easily removable labels on, and they go out of...

Bottling my first brew (Coopers Australian Lager)

I have always used castor sugar for my priming - i think it gets absorbed into the beer easier than granulated. A flat teaspoon for a 500ml bottle will give you a nice lively carbonation.

    Re: Festival Razorback IPA Review

It sounds like a lot of dextrose (650g) for effectively a 2 can kit? Has anyone had a taste of the finished product yet?
