Forgot to add the irish moss

If it were me... I'd do nothing about it... Just follow your usual practice... The only thing I would consider, is leaving the beer in the FV for an extra week, you might find it clears up nicely.

    Advice on hop calcs

Make sure our brewing method is set to "All Grain". It defaults to 35% when set to "Extract". But it doesn't reset to 75% if going from Extract to All Grain. In any case set it to "All Grain" with 75% Efficiency (Brew House), which is under Boil Time. :D

    hallertau hops

I've used hallertau hersbrucker in pale ales, IPA, blonde and golden ales... Its an aroma hop mostly used in German lagers, but I like it in pale coloured ales, added in last 10 to 5 minutes of boiling. With low alpha acids and low cohumulone, it exhibits a pleasant aroma with a balanced...

Yellow Belly beer could be discontinued over trademark dispute

I think the point is the names are very similar and they are both beers. Me thinks a lack of due diligence in branding.

    Advice on hop calcs

As far as hop alpha % is concerned, I've always assumed doubling percentage will give doubling of bitterness, whether doubling the quantity of the same hop or using a hop with double alpha. The BF calc. works in this way too. The BF calc. assumes 75% overall efficiency. You can change this to...

    Advice on hop calcs

The brewers friend recipe calc. is quite good at indicating results... https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/calculator It looks quite complicated, but you don't need to use all its functionality. All you need to input for basic results are... Units = Metric Brew Method = All Grain...

How do I brew a syrupy Ale?

To be honest I'm not sure using tins... But, as an experiment I would be tempted to try... 2 x Coopers Family Secret Amber Ale Beer Kits (2 x 1.7kg) 1 x Coopers Amber Malt Extract (1.5kg) Plus 1kg of Light Dry Malt Extract Brewed to 22L, should end up around 8%+ and bitterness in the region of...

    Help stocking my AG larder

My go to hops for bitters are First Gold, Goldings and Fuggles. I tend to use First Gold for bittering and aroma i.e. start of boil and at the end, in between Fuggles and/or Goldings. For dark beers like stout, porter and brown ale, I really like Bramling Cross and Fuggles, sometimes Saaz as an...

    Wilko Sweet Newkie Brown

Well... I have to say... Its a personal thing for me... I like to mature beer at serving temp., I feel it tastes better. I could be wrong, as its a bit subjective on my part. In any case I think a beer tastes different when stored cold, apposed to cool.

    Wilko Sweet Newkie Brown

Its worth mentioning... Ferment your beer for 2 weeks @ 17 - 21c. Find a dark place with a reasonably constant temp. I sometimes use a kitchen cupboard. After 2 weeks fermenting, then bottle. I use a bottling bucket with a tap... I add 120g (23L batch) of sugar to 1 litre of boiled water to...

    Boil time

My brewing mate quite often boils for less than an hour. Some of his beers are fine, but the rest are best described as puke juice, he gets quite upset as he can't taste anything wrong. I seem to be very sensitive, but if I wasn't I'd worry about giving my beers to others who might be.

    Cooling a cellar

I wouldn't bother with air con units, they are not designed to maintain temps as low as 12c. I have an out building which keeps quite cool compared to the house (shaded by large trees and no direct sun). I've done a few things to keep it cooler... Insulation... I've insulated the roof space...

    Small batches

I would expect the recipe assumes 75% efficiency, as for most recipes. As for your efficiency, I'm sure you can better 60% this time. I reckon 70-80% is where you'll end up. I brew 22L batches and use 2 packs of Wyeast for brews above 1,050 or 1 pack, if beefing up with a yeast starter. So, I'd...

    Boil time

For me a 60 minute boil is a minimum. My non scientific reasoning is the beer just doesn't taste quite right, if boiled for less time. Add in the technical reasons, it doesn't seem prudent to boil for less than an hour. During WWII, breweries were forced into shortening boil times to 60...
