    Best Beer finings

Maybe that was Ecstasy tabs you were looking at, don't think they contain any carrageenan thogh.

2018 Beer World Cup - Semi Final Final No 1

Maybe... But I associate canned beer with teenagers and tramps... i.e. Tennants Super and Special Brew. Although PukeDog IPA seems to be taking on Special Brew as the local poison of choice around here.

    Mash acidification with Coca Cola

What @IainM is really saying... You need shedloads more coke.

2018 Beer World Cup - Semi Final Final No 1

Not saying which one I voted for, but I don't drink canned beer...o_O

    Conditioning & Carbonation Temperature?

What your doing is fine. I leave in the FV for 2-3 weeks at my chosen fermenting temp., then bottle and store for a further 2 weeks at 18c, to allow for carbonation. After that I store at 10-12c, which is also a good temp. to drink ales. It seems a lot of home brewers cold crash before...

    Ales to try around Cambridge?

The Elm Tree... Have been a few times, they have a large selections of Belgian beers, plus local micro-brewery cask ales for all tastes.

    Best Beer finings

I only use Britewort and it does a good job. Protofloc does the same job and I wouldn't be surprised that the composition is very similar. Price wouldn't be a deciding factor for me. ^^^^ @ElvisIsBeer did a much better post... :p

    John Smith's

John Smiths Original on cask is lovely. Nowhere near me sells it, which is a bummer.

    refractometer or hydrometer for FG

peebee is spot on... A good hydrometer is calibrated to 1.000 (pure water). It doesn't matter whether you start with pure water or notionally mud puddle water which reads 1.002. The measurement is between the starting and ending of the process, you don't need to account for the mud content, if...

    Beer Kit Pint Cost?

 Very few home brewers save money, they just drink more beer... :beer1:

    No airlock activity

This tells me you have a leak for sure. The leak could be around the rim of the FV or the base of your airlock. With my FV's, sometimes they seal and sometimes they don't, happens more often the older they get... My advice is to do nothing.

**** Yank... Thought I'd bring back to on topic.

    Sharp after taste ??

In the past I've mixed 20L of Ashbeck with 10L of tap water, which improved my pale beers quite a bit. I've got very hard water, but now rely on basic water chemistry to achieve better results.

2018 Beer World Cup - Quarter Final No 4

This is true... I like both... My wife gets very frustrated when we go for a pub lunch, I target our local pub which serves Landlord and average food, but as I tell her "I'm only here for the beer". She doesn't seem to get my point... ;)

    High attenuation help.

I think you should try a different yeast too. I love a few old fashioned watery bitter when gardening in the summer. Mine normally finish around 1.007 - 1.008 from 1.035-6, approx. 3.5% and I also use some invert syrup, usually 200g. But not had a fall to 1.002. I start my mash at 66c and raise...

    Buffalo thermal fuse

I place my Buffalo boiler onto two pieces of timber... This allows the hot air to escape from underneath... Has never cut-out since.

2018 Beer World Cup - Second Round Match 8

Really! It's a matter of good taste. I'm shocked that Duvel has done so well against TT. More worryingly is the number of people on here who think Duvel is better. You all should be sent to the pub for 12 pints of TT as a penance. I'm sure that'll fix your wayward ways.

    hallertau hops

1 quid... don't think it matters which one it is... Whatever, they will make a good aroma hop. I've used 50g of Hersbrucker & 50g of Saaz @ 5 mins in an IPA... Was lovely :D
