Do you need to replace hydrometers?

Hi all, Just realised last night that I have had my current Stevenson Reeves hydrometer for at least 6 years and wondered if they need replacing periodically? Maybe I just have GAS as I'd like a nice finishing hydrometer with a large scale so I don't have to guess if its 1.009 or 1.010! Cheers!

    Kettle Soured Raspberry Berliner Weisse

The Funkin ones are reportedly 90% fruit, 10% sugar too, so should be a straight swap for the Carte D'Or ones. I have a recipe lined up that's exactly the same as yours, just haven't been able to spend successive days nursing it yet! Keep us updated on how your brew goes!

    Kettle Soured Raspberry Berliner Weisse

Nice one, thanks - I hadn't considered Amazon. I also see they have the Funkin Cocktail purees which look interesting.

Where did you get your raspberry coulis from? I've been trying to source tart cherry concentrate or pulp for a fake kriek for a while.

HELP! Foamy beer... but not the whole keg?!

Do you think that you're maybe slowly over carbonating? What temp and psi do you serve at?

    UK availability of counterflow chiller

I just start with the wort trickling through as slow as possible, measure the temp then increase the flow slowly until I get pitching temp. Takes no more than a few seconds.

    UK availability of counterflow chiller

I made one in the end (then subsequently blew it up but that's another story). I control the wort temp using the rate of flow, i.e. slow the flow of wort down and it is more chilled at the other end and vice versa.

    The Coronavirus thread.

Not at all Chippy. I am astounded by the sheer cognitive dissonance displayed by those Brexit voters currently hanging out their front doors banging pots for the brave NHS workers that are saving the UK. No need to delete or chide, that's the last I'll comment on the matter.

Q for the no chill brewers

What are people's thoughts on racking the boiling wort onto hop pellets in the cube? I've done this a few times and have been surprised with the flavour contribution.

    Grainfather burn

Nylon brush and water for the worst of it on my Robobrew, then a good 80c recirculation with sodium percarbonate or Oxi for 20 mins.

I used brewkegtap too, excellent service. I can't see the all rounder fermenter on their website? I haven't been able to find a UK supplier of it yet.

London beer factory - hazey daze

Hi, Does anyone have a recipe for hazey daze by the London beer factory? https://www.thelondonbeerfactory.com/product/hazey-daze/ It's a cracking session NEIPA type affair, the website mentions mosaic and citra but if there's a recipe knocking about I certainly can't find it! Tried emailing...

That's if they can continue to staff the delivery service and you live in a supported area!

    The Coronavirus thread.

I can't imagine, we have a fairly well stocked apocalypse cupboard in case of zombie Armageddon but you need to top up with fresh. Haven't panic bought but haven't been able to get staples with the regular weekly shop. What are you expected to do in self isolation when the cupboard is bare?

    Milk kefir question.

No that’s it, I’m thinking the liquid should drain through them leaving the grains which can be recovered when you empty the marbles out. worth a try if your kefir isn’t too thick.

    Milk kefir question.

Sterilised glass marbles in a layer at the bottom to create a filter of sorts with a large surface area unlikely to block?

Aldi wine chiller for beer ?

Only problem I can see is that you'll want to store beers vertically, whereas the wine racks are designed to store the bottles horizontally. Unless you do away withe racks and have some kind of diy staging inside.
