    Wort recirculation Vs not

I bought a small brew pump from ebay. You don't need 100s of liters a minute for such a small machine. On full pump I get a steady stream. Like faucet on little under half.

    Wort recirculation Vs not

I made my own brew kettle from two brewing buckets to which I added two 1500w elements, a bazooka filter and a brewing pump. It set me back like 50 quid. It works great. Before I added the pump it was hard to keep the temp right. I've since also added a temp controller, itc 308 to which I...

Just say "no" to yeast rinsing (a.k.a. yeast washing in amatuer brewer terms)

My experience in the matter is that to make yeast its faster with a stir plate. I made one. Use it to make more yeast. Also when I pitch said yeast theres reduced lag time for the fermentation to begin. I would never stir beer in the bucket. No need to introduce o2 there. But for a nice yeast...

Hi all I'm Dan and thinking of starting home-brewing,any

Welcome to fantastic hobby. Six things: 1. It's hot under your stairs? How hot? The temp shouldn't be to high. During fermentation the yeast working can up the temperature in the beer by up to 3-4 degrees. Meaning that if you ferment at 22 you could actually be fermenting at 26 degrees which is...

    St Peters IPA Kit Trouble/Mistakes

hi, When the beer is transferred into the bottling bucket you want to start bottling as soon as possible. Remember this is so the yeast makes Co2 for your beer. If you leave it too long in the bucket youll just have stronger beer, im not saying you have to bottle in like 2 minutes haha but you...

    St Peters IPA Kit Trouble/Mistakes

Hi, Nice, that means the yeast has been working. Still a high, but getting there. To answer your question about adding more sugar or not to the bottles i think i need to explain what is actually happening to your beer, what the yeast is doing to your wort. You have wort aka sugar from malt...

Old yeast starter - dispose or keep?

Should be fine after being stored in a container like that. I've revived a kveik yeast after over a year in the fridge. No problem.

    St Peters IPA Kit Trouble/Mistakes

Just take a gravity reading after it's been in the fermenter for while. 2kg of sugar Is a lot. This will be a strong beer. And it'll be thin. Let it ferment out til it stops. If it stalls at to high of a gravity it'll be sweet. There are tricks that you can do to get it starting again. Obviously...

Old yeast starter - dispose or keep?

The yeast is probably dead by now, but you could try and revive it with a new starter, that is if it still smell ok.

Hop spiders , bags , or just let it roll

Well... I love my hop spider :laugh8: i always use it. Mind you, it's one of the long wide ones. Never burn anything or feel like it's clogged, I also have a bazooka filter conected at the bottom of the kettle.
