Styrian Wolf is great for a golden ale, along with a simple grain bill.

    Not one single bubble...

Sorry for jumping in but I also have the same problem atm. I’ve used my current FV for many brews and all have had airlock activity. My current brew is completely inactive. It’s baffled me. it’s a saison that I brewed last Sunday and pitched Lallemand Belle Saison yeast at 23c (followed the...

    Lemon and Thyme Saison

Thanks for the replies everyone. Loads of decent info. I’ve used fresh citrus zest a few times and found it very strong, to the point of almost being like a perfume. Would strips of peel be better? Do you guys zest or peel???? thanks in advance..

    PET bottle squeeze

In my experience I prefer a ‘squeezed’ PET. Definitely makes a difference in terms of punchy hop flavor (when brewing hoppy pales). My batch is always a mixture of swing top glass and PET, and the PET taste better.

    Lemon and Thyme Saison

All right all…. Fancy knocking up a version of a beer I love. Partizan do a Lemon and Thyme (not lemon thyme) Saison. Anyone have any idea of how to/how much add the lemon and thyme (to be present but not dominant). I brew 10L batches. I’m gonna use my usual saison recipe as a base. 1.8kg...

    Adding/using raspberries

Thanks for the replies. Red- Very helpful. Will prob scale back a little now. Rich - Like the no hassle approach. As long as it sounds about right attitude will do me. ………. In general if I do decide to transfer to a secondary (mainly to make bottling a little less agg), after the residual...

    Adding/using raspberries

Cheers chaps. I appreciate it. Was thinking of sticking them in after 7-10 days and leaving them in contact for around 4-7 days respectively (give or take).

    Adding/using raspberries

Evening all I've got a 10l gose fermenting at the moment. I'm going to add frozen shop bought raspberries (currently in the freezer). I basically have a few questions with regards to amount, sanitation etc. Firstly I was thinking of adding around 1.4k to my 10l brew. Too little, too much or...

    Anyone used K-97 (Ferm temp)?

Hi All I brewed a Gose yesterday and pitched the yeast last night. I used Safale K-97 & pitched at 21c and is sitting in the fermentation chamber at 19c. Is this the best temp to ferment at? Can't find any specific info online and the packet advises 15-20c as the ideal temp. As mentioned just...

    Help - Wheat Malt

Thanks for the replies...... Phettebs - Thought as much. Just wondered whether there was something that was same/similar repackaged in a health food shop... Never mind. An A - None immediately near me. Closest I'm aware of is in Brockley in South London. Not too far away (as the crow flies)...

    Malt producers/brand

Evening all After brewing kits/extract and then just AG pale ales I'm going to start different styles. My question is about the different brands of grains. After searching The Malt Miller there are a number of suppliers/brands. Is there a noticeable difference for the same malt with different...

    No hops in boil?

Or just had a thought. Could I mash the full volume. Split it in to two equal volumes. Boil half for an hour (usual hop schedule) then once yeast pitched get the rest of the wort on to boil? So effectively leaving 6-7L mash temp wort in a container for an hour or two before I boil it.

    No hops in boil?

Thanks Slid. I've actually got a bit of Chinook in the freezer so will just sling in 15g @60 then dry hop each 5L with the full 50g of Citra/Mosaic (although may split over two dry hops 25g & 25g a few days apart).. If anyone thinks the above wont work for a simple Smash let me know.

    No hops in boil?

Morning I want to knock out a couple of Smash batches (1 x 5L pale malt & 50g Citra / 1 x 5L pale malt & 50g Mosaic). I can't be bothered to mash twice and boil twice so wondered if I could mash and boil (60 mins & 60 mins) to 10L and then split to two 5L FV and then maybe add a 20g hop tea to...
