    Equipment storage advise/tips

Hi all, I've had to move my brewing kit to the loft for storage in-between brews (no longer enough room in my gaff). I have a Grainfather G30, GF conical and a sparge water heater. I'm worried storing in the loft during winter could cause issues with the electrical components and/or general...

Off flavour (dare I say twang)

Clarence - Kolsch about 16-17 if memory serves and IPA at 19 (CML ale yeast). All constant using temp control. As mentioned tasted good out of the fermenter (IPA). Also to add, bottles carbed around 16-18, so nothing stressful in terms of temp.

Off flavour (dare I say twang)

Hello all. Wondered your thoughts on the following. I’m an all grain brewer with many brews under me belt. Most beers are decent enough, and the ones that are not are just a little underwhelming but not unpleasant and certainly drinkable. Problem is my last couple of beers have finished up...

Acidulated malt and Philly Sour yeast

NB - Thanks for the link, will look in to it. Main reason I wanted to combine both the acid malt and the Philly Sour as individually they both only produce modest results (AM experience first hand and Philly Sour online research seems to suggest not overly sour). So the combination seemed the...

Acidulated malt and Philly Sour yeast

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned I used 20% before and was pleasant enough but underwhelmed with the level of sour/sharp/tartness (I had followed a recipe online).

Acidulated malt and Philly Sour yeast

Hi All I’m just about to stick on a Gose and am planning to use Philly Sour yeast for the first time. Question I have is there an amount of acid malt that will be too excessive? My first Gose I brewed I added around 20% acid malt to the grist and it turned out well (although could have been...

League one and two football thread

Wish I knew exactly. Youth manager took over end of last season and turned us in to a decent young attacking team. Great start to this season, new stadium, life is rosy. Then get found out or run out of momentum and no experience to change things. None of the coaching staff had played...

League one and two football thread

Thanks mate. I can’t see it. Nausing it up at the new ground is a bitter pill to swallow also. Most games a sell out (even on this run), seemed to of attracted a load of new faces, will they turn up for L2.

League one and two football thread

The lose to Crewe on Friday sealed it. Gifted them their win. They had lost the previous 16 games and lost on Monday. Was up there with the worst game I’ve been to. Mathematics don’t come in to it, we’re gone. Been a shocking few months.

League one and two football thread

Well none you have it as bad as me ATM. I’m a Wimbledon fan, 26 games without a win. Most people didn’t have their Xmas trees up last time we won.. Although a couple of new grounds to visit in league 2 next year.

    Lagering in fermenter

Just finished fermenting my first lager (2 x 5l of Vienna). I’m going to lager one batch in the bottle and the second batch in primary. Question is, does the fermenter need to be airtight or just leave as is with an airlock. The fermenter in question is a PET bottle. Main concern/s are...

Love the Three Hounds bottle shop next to Jerk Garden on Beckenham Road. Perfect combo of shops.
