    Dry hopping

Everything will be better if you rack your beer from the top bud.

January Forum Comp - American Pale Ales

Excuse my ignorance. I assumed a typo of “Munich”. I’m sure the beer will be great and the feedback will be both honest and constructive:thumba:

It has zero pale maltclapa At least you've gone with a top fermenting yeast though haha. As said, I'm happy if everyone else is. Thanks a lot for entering!

    YOU'RE MAD!

Thanks for that! Happy to include this in the competition, even though it could be argued it's not quite fit per style. What yeast did you use? As said, I'm happy providing everyone else entering the comp is alsowink...

    Cloudy lager (quick method)

I've only found time to be the best thing for perfect clarity. Gelatin does work, but only to a degree. If you want beer you can read a book through, then time is really the only option. Providing you cold crash long enough, and most importantly at a temperature lower than you intend on...

    Electric kettle or stock pot?

There's also the option of a Buffalo boiler; I picked up one second hand (but never used) for £40. Perfect for BIAB and more than capable of making competition winning beers. But I would say just aim high and go big. Just go straight in for an all in one system. I wish I had done that...

Sounds great! As long as it's with me before we crack the bottles open for tasting then all is wellathumb..

I'm sure it'll be grand. It's up to yourself whether you wish to send one or two. But one thing I will say, is that if there's a lot of sediment in the bottle then two might be better as there's two of us judging.

Hopefully we'll be able to tell the story for you:laugh8: The good thing about the forum comps is that they're a free way (minus postage of course) to have your beer peer-reviewed by fellow home brewers. Unless winning is all that you're interested in, every month is a potentially great...

Aiming for week beginning 10th Feb; so if it's with me on the 10th then I'm more than happy to include it. Same rules apply to all other members interested in entering this month's competitionathumb..

    Leon103's brew days

Funny that as I hadn;t heard of Sabro until I saw it on the label and read your post here. Got you, like a NEIPA sort of DH schedule then. Hope it turns out well.

    Leon103's brew days

I think I have one of yours for the forum comp @Leon103? How do you find dry hopping for 12 days vs the typical 3-7?

    Late carb and hop ajustment

Linda Blair hahahahaha. Love it! Wrt dry hopping in bottles. I was always meant to try this as a means to help with identifying hop aroma and flavour: https://www.bertusbrewery.com/2013/03/dry-hopped-bud-light.html

It will last a long time. If you bottle well and minimise O2 exposure then it’s a non issue.

Time is on your side then as you have around three weeks till judging. I wouldn’t worry about green beers in that style. I’ve made some pales with huge amounts of DH and all hop burn was gone in about a week or less. The fresher the better for pales IMO.
