Hops that Disappoint name and shame

Nelson for me, makes beer taste like white wine. Gave them away.

Breweing right now - Have a question

Brewdog are sneaky and don't give correct hop schedules for all their recipes, specifically flagship beers like Punk IPA. I messed around with that for ages and it's simply wrong. This is what I came up with in the end and it comes pretty close to the real deal. Can't fault Beersmith really...

Any other piscetarian brewers out there?

Essentially yes. When you look at the sheer volume of beasts in the US, coupled with their grain feeding practices, the environmental impact vs a British grass fed cow is night and day.

Fancy a trip to Muntons? Actually, we'd really like your help...

£20 from where I live, no chance. Would be looking more like £300. You can have my opinion, free of charge and remotely. Just give me a shout. I’m pretty confident, going off your beers, that your company and “master brewers” would learn more than they know to date from our members here...

Any other piscetarian brewers out there?

As a man from my neck of the woods, you need to rethink buddy. You’re spouting the yank mantra of mental massive cow farms all corn fed vs Aberdeen Angus, pasture matured grass fed beasts. The two are polar opposites. The methane “horned car thing” rings true on many levels, but when you look...

Any other piscetarian brewers out there?

Just going to jump in for a bit of fun. I’m an avid fisher (solely catch and release, game sport) as I am a shooter. Shoot pheasants, woodcock, pigeons and partridge. All of which goes to food for my dog as he’s the man who flushes the game for the guns. Nothing wasted. “OMG you shoot and...

Hazy Beer on Food Unwrapped Tonight (2nd March 2020)

I wish I never missed the show, saw the bit about hazy beer at the end of the last episode. Might have to look for it on demand if it’s any good?

Hazy Beer on Food Unwrapped Tonight (2nd March 2020)

I think achieving permanent haze can be quite a bit more complex that avoiding kettle finings. In saying that, plenty oats and wheat malt would get you a good bit of the way there.

    Keezer Collar Questions

Clear silicone is enough to attach it to the freezer, regarding the mitre/butt joints of the wood. Wood glue and panel pins for me.

to sparge or not ! Appreciate a bit of advice fellas ....

If you don't sparge, you essentially leave carbohydrates in the grain bed. Sparging rinses those residual carbohydrates out. Mash viscosity is a big thing too, too thick (or thin in the case of a full volume mash) will negatively impact BH efficiency. BH efficiency on HB scales is really a...

    Your favourite radio station.

Do you not?:laugh8: He was funny when I was about 12. Nearly 20 years later, he's still churning out the same desperate humour.

    Your favourite radio station.

Genuinely forgot he was a presenter with that station. Forgetfull kinda guy! I tend to listen in the evenings and quite like Johnny Vaughan’s patter. But, I’m quick happy to block out the mindless chat and tune in when the music plays. Hard work someone like Chris Moyles though!

    Your favourite radio station.

RadioX for me. Used to be a fan of Planet Rock, but the amount and frequency of adverts is just too much now.

    Organ Donation?

I think it should be an opt out deal. ie automatically an organ donor unless expressed otherwise. Of no use to you dead and why should others not benefit from something which is no longer going to help you. Religious reason and/or otherwise aside - I think organ donation is a great idea.

    Hob/stove for boiling

Clint is on the money here. It’s a substantial outlay respective to a portable induction hob - but I’m sure it’s something you’ll love. Easy to clean, don’t take up much room and can turn around excellent beer. I use a Robobrew and can’t fault it.

    Hob/stove for boiling

Watch out if you go down the induction hob route, not all pots are compatible. If I were you, I’d look for a 30L boiler (tea urn style).
