    Buying Beer Online

Thanks for the replies guys. So I checked out Beer52, Honest Brew and BeerHawk. Looks like they've taken an absolute thrashing with Covid and all of the most entertaining beers are "out of stock" which is a shame. Not cheap, some cans/bottles were over a tenner! Will have a glance at Brew York...

    iSpindel - Argh.

Nice one. FWIW, one USB cable I used the LED always stayed red. Pulled it out the iSpindel, reconnected and it would go blue. Had been fully charged for ages but for some bizarre reason, the cable I was using wouldn't allow the LED to change... Worth bearing in mind. Looking forward to hearing...

    Buying Beer Online

Looking to buy a few different styles of beer online to see "what's what" so to speak. Refine my palette a bit and try some varieties I've not yet had. Any recommendations? Cheers.

    UK availability of counterflow chiller

I understand the concept, but to ensure the wort going into the FV is the correct temperature, you must have to recirc initially until you can read the output and see it's stable?

    iSpindel - Argh.

Going via the laptop let you into the config menu no problem without booting you out then? So you're getting temperature but not angle of tilt? Don't think you'll get a tilt reading until you enter a polynomial value...

    Brand New

Lots of kits available, a lot of them are dirty Tory voters though.

    UK availability of counterflow chiller

Necro thread revival. How do you control the outlet temp @LeeH? i.e. what's to stop the wort being under or over chilled?

    Help choosing a wort chiller

Good effort! If the project didn't involve butchering all those mad plumbers bits and pieces, I'd be keen to try it. As an electrician I have a valid phobia for that stuff though...

    iSpindel - Argh.

Yeah the instructions are howling. Try and be patient, I know it's tough though - I nearly set mine on fire I was that angry. I got a lot of help from a guy on FB though, basically told me what to ignore entirely and it was pretty easy after that. Hear from you tomorrow. We'll get there!

    iSpindel - Argh.

No problem. Aye use the reset button and that will start the iSpindel access point again. Then click on the WiFi icon in your taskbar to see all available WiFi networks; "iSpindel" will be one of them. Click on it, your laptop will connect to the iSpindel and the menu page should automatically...

    iSpindel - Argh.

Had a few issues myself during setup which made me want to throw it in the bin. The main problem is poor instructions, that's really it. I've done quite a bit of open source projects over the years and came to realise that clever people can't write instructions to save their lives, it's...

    iSpindel - Argh.

Hey pal, how's it going? I've not long set up an iSpindel, want to give some more specifics please and hopefully I can help out?

    Help choosing a wort chiller

    a) and b) is absolutely bang on, thank god! You know when people regurgitate stuff without understanding? Well there is a mass of that when it comes to chilling wort - colossal confusion wrt efficient cooling vs speed of cooling. Too many people regurgitating something along the lines of...

    Keeping chickens

All my spent grains (wet) go to her mother’s hens. They’ve probably had about 50kg to date and are all alive still.

    Switch between PID and SSR

There will be a common positive on the PID, just run that through an on/off switch in parallel with the SSR positive switched output. And as you’ve already said, permanent negative to the SSR.

    Help choosing a wort chiller

Wow, that’s impressive. I bought a very impressive DIY immersion chiller on here that was amazing. Sadly, I never accounted for the spring clip on top of my brew kettle that holds the malt pipe for sparging. Was literally about 5mm too big...😔

    Help choosing a wort chiller

Did contemplate it, but cold water is of no use to me when I'm not paying per volume.

Not on a meter pal, so it's moot.
