    Cwtch hop pellet question

Did this kit twice. Personally I'd cold crash it now to drop the hops, then rack it into my bottling bucket, syphoning through a mesh bag, then I'd crash it again and bottle it after a few or more days. I'd prime the bottles to avoid disturbing the remaining trub. I can't be doing with anything...

What I'd consider my best brew to date is an RIS which I brewed biab, like ACBEV above I replaced some of the base malt (most of it actually) with LME because I only had a 12litre pot at the time. I think I mashed 2kg base malt plus the speciality malts and made up the bulk of the OG with lme...

Poochops GF Brewday #10 Rochefort 10 clone

Tried another of these tonight, opening the bottle the lid came off like a champagne cork it actually hit the ceiling! Surprisingly though it didn't gush but poured fine with a full inch of head in a Belgian chalice, I'm 3/4 down the glass and there's plenty of head left which is good. So the...

    BrewDog recipes

I did zeitgeist for my very first grainfather run, came out really well for a first attempt I was very happy with it. Finished the last of them about a month ago and I would say it would be best drunk young as it lost some of its complexity later on.

    What are you drinking tonight.

Ooooh half a bottle of red wine, then a can of some flavourless pale ale pish, three pints of efes, a large brandy, a brandy cofffee, a pint of centennial brown ale, a brewdog mr president clone and a theakston OP clone. Walloped.

    Excess ingredients...

I had a freezer drawer full of packets of half used cones and pellets so I wrote a list and targeted using some of them up. I brewed hoppy IPAs swapping some recipe hops for similar ones in the freezer. Next I rounded a lot, 20g too much or too little just ignore the over, or throw in something...

    Madaleine McCann

Well the mcanns, plus me and mrs poo must be the only parents ever to have tucked the babbies in on an evening on holiday, and gone over to the gated complex restaurant 50 yards away for a fish dinner and a glass of wine. Must be a middle class thing? It's not like Benidorm where they take the...

This weekends Dubbel! Feedback welcome :)

Have you had a look ever at this site? http://www.candisyrup.com/recipes.html I have the Rochefort 10 conditioning presently. What's apparent is most of the dubbels are simply base malt plus candy sugar and occasionally a single adjunct. I'd forget the 15 min addition personally and take all...

Unpacked the shopping, the next half dozen

A three week cycle sounds great for a thirsty household! Last year I was putting a brew on 2-3 every weeks and we're still working through it all. I've only done one this year because there's so much needs drinking still, it's killing me because I've got 5 brews worth of grain recipes in stock...

Unpacked the shopping, the next half dozen

Festival kits are ace, the New Zealand Pilsner is spot on, very hoppy at first but once it calms down it's great ice cold. You're going to be a busy fella how long will it take to use them all up?

    Bought uncrushed malt by mistake

Crushed a kilo of MO once with a mortar and pestle once, two handfuls at a time. Took 20 minutes and worked a treat if you have one or could borrow one

Who do you believe, hydrometer or refractometer?

Hydrometer, or you have a stuck fermentation and your hydrometer is bust which unless it's in two halves, well you know... 1.047 will go to 1.011 in a week no problem as you know. No moving parts on a hydrometer and if it calibrated ok in distilled water then it's right IMO. Will be interested...
