Have a go at simple AG

I‘m pleased you came up with a style I’ve never tried and dont know what to expect, thanks! I have said recently that I want to explore new styles. My nephew visited a short while ago. We drank my brews but he left a White Belgian wheat beer. I’d never have bought that myself but enjoyed trying...

Have a go at simple AG

Is that my spelling or my costume? 😁 I did expect that you would have to massage the grey matter and have a good ponder. I suppose I should have requested your favourite recipe with an ale yeast as I don’t have a brew fridge - yet. So far my careful hints have met with stern resistance from SWMBO 🙁

Have a go at simple AG

Hi Clib(it) and welcome back, good to see you. It really was amazing how many people you converted. I’m in Halifax. My photo was taken in the Sparrow real ale house in the centre of Bradford at a staff Christmas do. I was the only one that fell for the Christmas jumper dress code! My “Clibit’s...

Have a go at simple AG

I know that @clibit hasn’t posted on here for a good few years, but just in case he occasionally pops in to see how we’re all doing I would like to thank him for the inspiration. After reading every one of the 1,700+ posts in this thread I had my first attempt at AG. You can see how I got on HERE

    Pavalijo’s Brewdays

So here goes with AG01 after 11 kits over the past 12 months. I gained courage having read the @clibit thread. Having read it from start to finish I decided to follow his Citra Pale Ale recipe rather than the simple smash. His recipe was for a 10L batch which I upped to 15L batch and is: Marris...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

I see that you’re also drinking the Cwtch Graz. How long has it been conditioning, and if you’ve had it a while - at what point do you think it approaches peak drinking? I read on here that it needs a good while. Had a first try at 5 weeks of conditioning and was very pleased with it, but I...

Golden Stag - ready to bottle?

Thanks Davvy, still bubbling every 2 minutes or so but SG not moving so it’ll be bottled tomorrow. The dregs from when I racked it tasted good. I’ll put it in the wet room to carbonate just in case!!

Golden Stag - ready to bottle?

Rehydrated and pitched yeast day 1 at OG 1.040 (stirred vigorously but below what I expected). At average 21.5c by day 5 I hit 1.014, with a target FG of 1.009. Added dry hops day 9 at 1.012. Racked off into CO2 filled fermenting bin that doubles as bottling bin on day 14, through hop filter...

    Crawley - gumtree malts haul

I have just bought Chemsan and brewing malts from him - he is moving house and can’t take it all with him. He can’t post this grain and it’s too far away from me, but I got 1 litre unopened Chemsan and 440g of two different brewing salts for £10 plus postage so that was good value (only just...

    Cwtch nearly there.

I tasted mine a few days ago after a month of conditioning. A little too bitter but fantastic flavours and really lovely citrussy hoppiness. I read that it improves over several months so will maybe have another bottle a month for a few months. I think it’s going to be the best kit I have done...

    Hi

Hi Polcho, I started up again last year after doing a couple of extract brews 30 years ago. My 11th kit is about to finish and after that I’m doing my first all grain, inspired by Clibit’s thread below - you should read it! As for kits I have found the Festival kits plus Tiny Rebel Cwtch as the...

    Cwtch by Tiny Rebel Brewery

Had my first bottle yesterday, about a month after it finished carbonation. There is quite a bitterness, but even so it was excellent. I suspect I another couple of months this will be my best brew yet by some distance! The hop flavours were superb.

Feedback on my proposed setup for first all-grain adventure!

Hey Richard, I get my Peco this week and read this thread with interest - but you need to come back and finish off the story please!

    Citra Pale Ale

Thanks for the detailed reply, very helpful. I am intending to buy a bag for mashing and sparging. Is there any problem with adding some of the sparse water as the wort evaporates? I so I might have to reduce the batch size.

    Citra Pale Ale

I’m gearing up to do this as my first AG in the next couple of weeks (when the Golden Stagg finishes in the FV). Please can I seek advice on the following: 1. At some point I will learn about water treatment, but until then - can I add anything to Tesco Ashbeck to better suit this style? 2. I...
