    Co2 cost ££

Just getting back into homebrew and first time round I used 2kg out of date fire extinguishers and used to get refills for £5 in Birmingham. That place is no longer open. Got a quote today (near Wolverhampton) which was £20 deposit for the cylinder + £42 for 3kg, then £42 a refill.

    Back to business!

Hi Session, would it be this one BlowTie Complete Kit (Diaphragm Spunding Valve) ? A quick Google reveals a bit of difference in price, already imported vs needs importing... I was after the one used by New2Homebrew Tom on YouTube in his Fermentasaurus review - its made of brass with the...

    Back to business!

Thanks for your reply, it was fun to use! I did think about assembling it again at the start, it did speed up brewday a lot! In fact, I still have the malt pipe in the garage somewhere.... Argh. Must. Not. Build. Lots. Of. Brewgear!

    Back to business!

Hi guys! I'm excited to be getting back to home-brewing, I've been out of the game for a couple of years as life got in the way, my son came along and I had amassed a ridiculous amount of brewing gear that took over the garage! I had some hits and misses with brews previously, built a few things...

LHBS - how far do you go?

Don't forget Harris4Homebrew in Gornal, he has a decent selection of ingredients. The Bilston homebrew shop does sell some AG ingredients but mostly those supplied by Youngs and its fairly expensive. The nearest you'll find to a homebrew club round here is http://www.midlandscraftbrewers.org.uk/

    The MaltMother

https://www.brewbuilder.co.uk/3kw-lwd-ripple-element.html This is the one I had in mind, bigger surface area to transfer the heat, I'm guessing?

    The MaltMother

Cheers Stan, it did catch a little on the element, didn't it. I'm pretty sure it happened the last time I brewed this recipe, not sure why. Hopefully it will nicely complement the roasty flavour....! Im currently switching it with a PID. Having my garage electrics upgraded to 32a next week, so...

    The MaltMother

Most of the hop pellet debris is in the centre Stan. If you look at where the whirlpool nozzle is pointing, I've tried aiming it so it clears one side of the filter and whirlpools it onto the other side of the filter (in the middle of the pot). It worked very well this way. The filter clogged on...

    The MaltMother

Evening guys, I've lost count of how many brews I've made using my setup, but recently I made a couple of changes to the MaltMother, so its time for a thread update. IMG_20180921_090456 by Ben, on Flickr I've replaced the stainless false bottom in the malt pipe for a BIAB fabric bag. Seems to...
