    Brewpi Fermenting Fridge

I'd absolutely love this feature! I did a bit of research but couldn't find anyone who had done it so far.

    Solar panels.

That's 100% how these schemes work. They don't care who owns the property as the new owner is legally bound to keep the panels connected (or buy the system from them).

Any idea who the original installer was? I've not come across this before. A Shade Greener and the No.2 installer (who I used to work for so won't name!) might not be the most amazing companies out there but they certainly wouldn't employ these tactics in a month of Sundays.

Stir Plate how to with lots of pics

Can anyone comment on whether my plan for electrics will work. I'm wanting to build a double stir plate with 2x 1L flasks on it. This gives me a bit more flexibility if I'm brewing two batches in a weekend, if I drop one flask I should still be able to salvage my day, but more importantly it...

    Stuck Ferment

I thought I had a stuck fermentation earlier in the week - no bubbling after 24hrs and nothing would get it sorted; I tried gently rocking the FV, putting it in a warmer spot in the flat. I seriously considered the 2hr round trip to the LHBS to get some more yeast. I finally realised I hadn't...

FAO Gray's Alchemy - picture framing question

While we're having a 'ask Grays a question day' - can you recommend a good forum for cheese making? I did a course a few years back and never really continued. Any forums with a good DIY bias are always appreciated

    Steam Cleaning

I'd be interested in knowing this too - it seems like a simple (and environmentally friendly) way of cleaning equipment.

Adding a tap to a FV

Such a good idea - I don't know why this hadn't occurred to me before.

    Beer Duty down by 1p

Some might have seen this but it amused me. Note the use of the word "they" i.e. people not like us politicians. At least they're not trying to pretend they're hard working. And then the parodies started:

Adding a tap to a FV

I don't have a tap on my primary fermentation vessel either - it all gets syphoned off in one go which really isn't that much bother. Once in the bottling bucket I have a tap / little bottler for the tricky stuff. What stopped me having one is the risk of leaks. I figure if the HLT or kettle...

    Solar panels.

K2 are one I would put firmly in the 'decent' camp. Their stuff is good. If you have a lot of problems with bird dirt it's probably worth the micro inverters. In theory the panels are self cleaning (the glass is non-stick) but this will take a while if the roof is a shallow pitch and is of...

    Sinus problem after brewing

It may not be remotely related but I follow most peoples' advice to use a plant mister with my star-san - I find this gives me all sorts of nasal pain while I'm brewing. Maybe I'm creating too much spray but if you're doing a similar technique maybe try a work around and see if this helps things?

    Solar panels.

I must admit I've never heard of insurers kicking up a fuss on a domestic sized system. They're no more expensive than some stereo systems these days so not a big theft risk. As long as the installer does a proper structural survey (ALWAYS check they do as many don't) then you should be fine.

    Solar panels.

That's a pretty good price for a micro inverter system. I presume you have some shading issues to be considering micro inverters? If it's a clear roof (IMO) they're not really worth the extra expense - you'd be better with a central 3680w inverter which should knock a few hundred quid off the...

The loss of a real politician.

The Beeb did a nice article entitled "Five lesser-spotted things Tony Benn gave the UK". See here. Well worth a 2min read over your lunch.

    That's great! Thanks very much!

    Show us your brewery

It has Rover alloys but looks like some sort of Locost kit car. That said the cabin looks way too far forward so I'm wondering if that's the back end and it's something completely different altogether (i.e. the back end of a trike).

    Growing Hops??

Thanks! I just ordered some Challenger and Cascade. Looking forward to seeing these beauties grow during the predicted heatwave!
