HOW TO VIDEOS: Thermopot Mash Tun Conversion

The first (hopefully in a small series I'm going to make) of simple DIY conversions. I'd also be really grateful for a view, comment, like or subscribe. Also suggestions for future videos always gratefully received (STC1000 wiring, fermentation fridge, etc). I'll be adding a components list to...

    Induction hob

So have a supply to the hob powered up, then turn on using the dial on the machine? I.e. Avoid turning on at the wall with the hob in the on position? Just bought myself one for sub £50 and looking forward to giving it a go. Cheaper than two decent elements.

Truman 1890 Export Stout (Kernel clone)

I've not brewed this stout before but do quite a lot of dark beers. 1. Yes, you'll need to have more water in the boil to prevent a super concentrated wort. Any calculator (Beersmith etc) should be able to figure out the boil off and suggest a starting volume of water for the mash / sparge...

    Mango IPA

I brewed a mango IPA a while ago. Pretty sure I used four of the tins of mango puree that Sainsburys sell cheap in the Indian food aisle (circa £1.70 for a very large tin IIRC). Tasted great, a nice mango flavour. I did find that the fermentation stripped a lot of the sweetness from the...

    Fridge Fermenter

Likewise, though you can just wedge a sponge between the FV and the fridge wall, probe on the FV side. No need for any tape.

    Surrey Homebrew Club

I had spotted that - a little too far and a lot of the self storage places I've contacted don't like you using their units as 'workshops' sadly.

    Surrey Homebrew Club

I'm looking at anything within a 20min ish drive from Kingston. Similarly, if anyone has / knows of space available to let, please shoot me a line as I'm interested.

I'm looking at renting a small workshop to tinker with bikes and brew in. Coming up with loads big enough for a couple of cars / breweries but a bit big (and expensive) for me. If anyone is tempted to split the cost to have some workshop space, please PM me. Talking in the ballpark of...

    Brewdog valued at 1bn

The one in the US is planned to open later this year / early next year I believe. It's actually the first BD crowdfunding type deal I didn't go with. The one in Ellon is still a bit of a Work In Progress but they certainly haven't given up on it. It came down to the price the council wanted...

    Parweld co2 regulator

I rate mine. The MM one is about £10 more expensive than some people are selling it for on eBay mind - that's where I got mine from. Only two gripes with mine. Firstly dialing it down to the correct pressure for serving is a little tricky (the difference between 4-5psi on the gauge is...

    Brewdog valued at 1bn

They barely even mentioned supermarkets in their talk. I think their priority is international bar and bottle shop sales rather than domestic supermarkets. Lots of new bars planned. It's much easier to maximise margins if you control production, distribution and retail! For anyone who...

    Brewdog valued at 1bn

I'll bite! I'm a shareholder and was at the AGM over the weekend. I'm far from an expert but I've held shares in quite a few businesses as well as running my own company and having a piece of paper to prove I wasted several years of my life studying the subject. In a world where Snapchat is...

Where can I get food grade C02 in north Hampshire????

I ended up getting a smaller bottle through Adam's Gas. OK prices (there's a reasonable deposit on the bottles, though no rental to pay). Refills aren't too bad and they have the smaller 3.15kg cylinders (ideal if you want to put the bottle within the fridge).

    Surrey Homebrew Club

I'm going to do it - I'm going to throw a few dates out there and see if there's any interest. Location TBC but somewhere walking distance from a decent station. How does 16th or 17th of January suit people?
