    Kit v All Grain Costs

I'd say, like most, I'm somewhere around 50p per pint so pretty comparable to kits. Major cost seems to come from all these shiny things that some how keep appearing in my cupboard and fridge :confused.:

    Problem?

Ha! It does smell pretty good, just worried something has gone a miss as I've never experienced this before. Krausen is there, and the smell has subsided a little from yesterday. Yeast was just US05 rehydrated

    Problem?

So I brewed an APA on Monday, checked to see how it was getting on this morning and my sample had a very strong orangey, almost marmalade type smell to it. I've never had this before, could this be a problem with the yeast (underpitched?). It seems to be fermenting ok and has come down a...

    Mini Kegs

Hey mate, that's great thank you! I might pick one up from a supermarket as ideally I need them to be unbranded, if I can get the label etc off (not sure if its actually a label or printed onto the keg haha) I'll give you a shout!!

    Mini Kegs

No it was these that I ordered, https://www.brewuk.co.uk/brew-easy-keg.html They're still showing as in stock so hopefully they get here

    Mini Kegs

I might have a look. Ideally I'd like my order from BrewUK to be processed, it's been 3 weeks now since I placed it

    Mini Kegs

Thanks, have thought about using these but 1) I'm not really a fan of the beer that's in them, Speckled Hen and the like and 2) I need a fair few :laugh8:

    Mini Kegs

Cheers, but I'm just after the cheap ones, not the growler/pressurised ones

    Mini Kegs

Anyone know where I can order some of the 5l mini kegs? I have some on my order with BrewUK but that was placed 3 weeks ago and doesn't look to be arriving anytime soon :/

    Wilko Carbonation Drops...

Cracked a stout to see how it was getting on after using the sugar sticks. Really pleased with the outcome, will be picking up a box of these for future brews.

    Espresso machine

Thanks guys some really good points made above, and to be honest it was the sort of responses i was expecting, unfortunately I'm not really in the position to be spending £300 for my weekend coffee haha With regards to the grind, I have a bog standard, generic electric grinder which I hardly...

    Espresso machine

Thanks @chthon , something to keep an eye on @Oneflewover I'd looked at the aeropress before but decided on the stove top. I dont believe either give you a true espresso though with that lush crema which is what I'm after clapa

    Wilko Carbonation Drops...

Yeah, I kegged my last stout at 1.8 which was perfect for how I like my stouts. I was only running off a handful of bottles this time. Decided on splitting it by 4 would be the best way to avoid over carbing. Personally would rather a stout be a little under.

    Espresso machine

One for the coffee drinkers on the forum. I've been using a stove top for last couple years and have really enjoyed it. However im now looking at getting a proper espresso machine. I dont want to spend a huge amount on it, around £80 or so, anyone got any recommendations?

    Wilko Carbonation Drops...

I was a little cheeky and picked up a couple from mcdonalds the other day when I was grabbing my coffee. 4g sticks so split one between 4 bottles, will see how they turn out

    Wilko Carbonation Drops...

Aw good idea, although I would expect 4g per 330ml bottle may be a bit too much! Might grab a couple when I'm getting a coffee and go for half a sachet per bottle.

    Wilko Carbonation Drops...

..for a stout in 330ml bottles. Just a quick one. Does anyone have any recommendations, never used drops before but just need to run off a handful of bottles and I dont have a spare bucket to batch prime from. Will 1 drop be too much? Not a fan of a fizzy stout. Dont really fancy just...

    Czech Pilsner

Hey guys, some great articles and tips, thanks very much. Back home next week so will be getting this together and brewed next weekend. That will just leave me with getting my best man's speech sorted for the wedding asad1

    Czech Pilsner

oooo this could be pretty tight then, i've got 13 weeks to get this brewed, fermented and cleared!!

    Czech Pilsner

That looks interesting. The last pilsner I made was just pilsner malt and it was probably a little to pale for what I was looking for. @Ghillie how do you find the clarity with the 2007? Mine has been in the keg for about 6 weeks now, still young I know but even with irish moss and finings...
