I exclusively use airlocks - but I don't use buckets for beer fermentation (only use them for transfer), I use the large wine FVs, with screw on caps and correct size holes for bung and airlock....never had a problem.

I think you've bottled too soon - ie there's still tons of yeast floating in the wine, so it reacts to the sugar addition immediately. Also 2 teaspoons of caster sugar seems too much for me. And it's carbonation, not carbonisation. Unless you're setting fire to your wine.

Radio 2 is shockingly bad - nothing but middle of the road garbage all day long. It gets slightly better in the evenings, but if I'm listening to any radio these days it's Planet Rock or 6 Music, and even Planet Rock plays middle of the road garbage rock most of the time....

Should do. - it's not the threads that provide the seal, it's the mating of the flat surfaces imo. Same as the cap.

Vaseline on both side of the rubber will sort it.
