    Boil pot issues

I'm a no-chill convert and either let my wort cool in the kettle then transfer the next day, or transfer it hot to the fermenter and likewise let it cool (typically overnight) before pitching at breakfast time. Super simple.

    Euro 2020, who's watching?

I hate the theatrics as much as anyone but you'd be a fool not to take a tumble in the box if you're hopelessly outnumbered and feel a nudge in the back. Why not gamble for a penalty? The free kick the Danes scored from was about as deserving as our penalty, and Schmichael did a great job of...

    Euro 2020, who's watching?

Happy with that so far. Ukraine struggling to dent the defence, just need to hold them out eh!

    You couldn't make it up.

You missed the bit where they cropped out the Nationwide logo (and others) that they've plastered over the bottom of the flag. I understand that the big flag tour is to support grass roots football, and I'm also not a flag waving nationalist, but I'm not thrilled that they modified the flag...

    Euro 2020, who's watching?

I'm just in from the pub and one of the chaps on the next table described that game as like world war 3, ended up with half of each team taking a hit of some sort. Both sides fought for it, and I'm amazed they squeaked that last goal in the added-extra-time. Kudos.

Excessive sediment in bottles / Morgans Ultra Premium Pacific Pale Ale

I'd guess it's just that you managed to stir up more sediment when bottling this batch. Given it sounds like it should have fermented out before bottling unless you've got good reason to think you added too much sugar during bottling I wouldn't worry. I doubt the sediment would affect the...

Malt Group Buy in London/Berkshire Area

As soon as we have enough to make the minimum order I suppose?

    How many of you have?

I go every couple of weeks for a pub quiz, the beer is usually too warm but tbh I mostly go for the company rather than a decent pint. Since covid the half-time buffet has been dire too.

Malt Group Buy in London/Berkshire Area

I've just done a very rough totting up of peoples replies and I counted about 17 sacks claimed. We're basically half way there and I could probably take another sack for myself too. @Obadiah Boondoggle, do you have a good way to track what is being requested that we could 'borrow'? Like a...

Can you leave a Quick Disconnect not attached?

Technically yes, but if you're like me and have threaded John guest to disconnect adapters you'd make sure you don't have any leaks first!

    Rob's brewdays

Delayed brewday write up as usual but a little over a week ago I had a go at fermenting in my BIAB setup, which so far seems to be doing fairly well! This recipe is a NEIPA: Maris Otter with Citra and Cascade. OG was 1.077 so it's going to be a strong one but I just dry hopped it and will keg...

    Disturbing sediment

Just be careful not to rock the keg and you'll be fine.

    Rob's brewdays

Well the ESB update is in, I've had a couple of pints of this now and while it is definitely on the bitter end of a bitter, it's actually still pretty palatable - and aside from the bitterness the crystal malts help mellow it out a bit. Might revise the hop addition down for the next one though...

    Chemsan neutralised by tap water?

Yeah no worries man, I'm definitely not trying to pick a fight. Everyone has their own practices and methods, you do you. Buuut... This is also in the technical data sheet: Once the solution has been made up can I continue to use over several days? Yes you can but before use check that the...

    Chemsan neutralised by tap water?

Well bugger me if I only went and looked it up. The MSDS doesn't make any comments about the effectiveness of cloudy Chemsan, but the Chemsan information FAQs (compressed) PDF which is self titled as the Technical Data Sheet says this in the How to Use Section: "Chemsan will go cloudy if it has...

    Chemsan neutralised by tap water?

As I understand it the cloudiness comes from Calcium and Magnesium salts in hard water reacting with the surfactant, and that as long as the pH is below 3 the solution should still be effective. FWIW I have hard water and use cloudy chemsan and haven't had any issues yet. YMMV.
