    Beer cappers

I'm currently using a Wilko hand capper and although it's worked OK[ish] for 6 23L brews I find it's best suited to a two-person operation. Do the bench cappers have to be screwed down in order to work single handed?

    B&M kits

Not sure why no one is mentioning which stores but as of yesterday, both Reading stores had Real Ale, Bottles and fermenter kits. The store next to Morrisons also had a few Tequila and Lime lagers.. Hope this helps someone..

    Bulldog Brew Bad Cat

Great.. Let me know how carbonation (secondary fermenting) goes. Had some of mine again tonight, still got that sweet taste.. Took a photo against a backdrop this time but it's more an Amber colour when held against the light ..

    Bulldog Brew Bad Cat

As I used a PB,I added 150g of normal sugar to the PB.. I've carbonated my IPA when bottling by adding a teaspoon (from one of those measuring sets) to each bottle via a funnel but next time I'll probably use a second FV have the sugar dissolved in boiling water and then add the wort from...

    Bulldog Brew Bad Cat

Great. I wish I'd bottled this instead of using a PB, it's a nice drink but with my pressurisation problem at the start there's no lasting carbonation. Took another FG reading this week and mine is now 7.4% Can see myself making this again

Personally, I'd wait.. You're two weeks isn't up until Sunday and ideally you need 3 days with a constant SG reading. Your brew should be perfectly alright where it is for 3 or 4 weeks or more.. Perhaps dry hop after 2 days constant SG?

    1st brew attempt question

Yes, the staining is from the krausen (foam) - if I can see the tide mark through the wall of the FV then I know fermentation has started. Check it again tomorrow or Friday, I suspect it's still fermenting - my FG reading was 1.008.

    1st brew attempt question

I'd check it again tomorrow . 1.015 isn't isn't far off the 1.008-1.014 range in the standard instructions supplied. If the airlock is still bubbling then fermentation still happening.. Have you added the hop bag yet? Did you taste the sample?

Thinking of having a go at BIAB???

Thanks... So there's not a temperature setting? You turn it on, measure the temperature with a thermometer and at 67degerees you turn it off and insulate it.. I've read elsewhere the element isn't 'the best', is it still OK to achieve a constant boil?

Thinking of having a go at BIAB???

How easy is this to achieve and maintain mash temperature ? Is there a dial setting or do you need to use an Inkbird?

    Bulldog Brew Bad Cat

I've two turbo ciders on the go and am using Yeast Nutrient in them.. I haven't added it to the kit brews (mainly because I assume they have the correct type and amount of yeast) but it shouldn't negatively affect the beer if you did..

    1st brew attempt question

I'm currently fermenting by second batch of kits (did my first last week ) but if you want to consider my advice.. Yes, should be no bubbles when you come to bottle/keg.. Fermenting should have pretty much finished and your FG reading should be stable for least a couple of days, probably below...

    Bulldog Brew Bad Cat

Had a problem with the pressure barrel - I'd only put Petroleum Jelly on the cap and not the tap screw also so I had to release the pressure a bit, lay down the barrel and replace the tap. Here's the brew after one day in the barrel..

    Bulldog Kit Hopping

Don't worry. .I dunked the hop bags a few times and gently stirred it.. Don't think I've made it worse

    Bulldog Brew Bad Cat

I've currently got this secondary fermenting in a pressure barrel.. It's my first brew, didn't notice much in the bubbler after a couple of days so had a sneaky peak and saw a large krauzen(??) and nice yeasty aroma..it had a constant FG after about 10 days and I added the hop bags 3 days before...

    Bulldog Kit Hopping

Hi, currently doing my first ever brew(s) and have Bulldog Double IPA and Bulldog Red Cat fermenting for 8 days now. The Double IPA has had a reading of 1.010 (OG was 1.060) for two days now so I'm thinking of adding the hops. Instructions say to add boiling water to bag of hops in cup...
