Happy new year all!
My last brew of 2020 ended on a low note as my brewzilla gen 3 started to give me an E1 error on the cleaning cycle.
This is a fault with the temp probe/thermistor.
Does anyone have any advice or a supplier of a replacement?
I usually use the kegland store on AliExpress...
I usually no chill but used my IC on Friday and ended up pitching yeast into 26c wort when the brewzilla reading was 19c!
I will have to remember to check manually next time.
I have to throw my spent grain in the bin as I have no way to use/recycle in my garden and I have to say that the smell is absolutely repulsive if I don't double bag it!
I can't imagine what it would be like after a few days open in a shed ...
I’ll have to try this yeast again, first and only time I used it I pitched 2 packs in 23l. The beer wasn’t great and I got a lot of acetaldehyde, but I think this was my fault for pitching too hot.
Yes - you do get some protein/break/trub matter stuck to the bottom after a full boil. Its never caused me a problem and it wipes off easily, certainly it isn't scorched or imparting any unwanted flavours.
I have a brewzilla and don’t bother with the central overflow pipe.
I use rice hulls to ensure a good flow and bung the hole in the bottom plate with a 1/4” BSP nut.
