What fermentation temp control swings are acceptable?

Thanks, that's my thinking, the weather is also set to be nice for the next week or so, so that should support it. I will also be putting the fermenter in a different location to the lager I did last, so I think I will be able to hold a better temperature. Only time will tell I guess...

What fermentation temp control swings are acceptable?

I have been wondering about this also as I will be starting a Stout kit very soon and I think I should be able to hold a steady 18 degrees, but that is right on the edge of the limits. I have no temp control, but if I wrap the fermenter, then it should support to maintain the residual heat the...

    Priming bottles with a syringe

I did run a bit short of syrup and swapped to a measured teaspoon of sugar, 4g, with a funnel, was much quicker and easier for me. That said, I was using a 5ml calpol syringe and had a mix of 7.5ml per bottle lol! Plus, the solution didn't seem to dissolve fully so i had to mix it between...

    Priming bottles with a syringe

I have to be honest, I found the syrup and syringe method a bit of a ball ache!

Better brew Czech pilsner kit help!

Just to confirm the above and set your mind at ease a little, i am new to this too and I am only maybe 20 days into my first coopers lager kit, mine seemed furious at first, but soon dropped off, but left it 16 days and saw a consistent drop off of gravity and maybe the odd bubble from time to...

    New member from mid Wales

Welcome, I'm quite new here and a Welsh man also, from the South Wales valleys. I am on my first lager kit at the moment and have bought all I need to get a stout going, but I am keen on getting a cider going very soon with summer here. I don't have access to lots of fresh apples so I will...

    Novalager

Mine is now bottled after a 2 day cold crash, seems to be clearing out ok, came out 1006 so about 4.5%. I have used 1 clear bottle just so I can check on the clarity as it matures. The pic is the day following bottling, not looking too bad since its so young.

    Home brew supplies near Cardiff?

Yes I am sure you are right, it also helps the customer in competitive terms, helps to keep the costs reasonable and make the hobby justifiable over simply buying our favourite booze.

    Home brew supplies near Cardiff?

Cheers for the offer but they actually had a reasonable selection of bits and Bob's, including chocolate malt quite surprisingly. Only thing they didn't have is dark malt extract so just grabbed some brew enhancer instead. Not the cheapest, but not bad for a local store. They had a reasonable...

    Home brew supplies near Cardiff?

Thanks for the heads up, I hope to just get a coopers stout kit, maybe some Dark malt extract and some chocolate malt hopefully, have a feeling they may not have that though...

    Home brew supplies near Cardiff?

Yes I would do the same and if you only want a couple of ingredients you may as well shop local to save delivery all works out the same really. Hopefully the one in Pontypridd has a decent stock.

    Home brew supplies near Cardiff?

Go for it, I would shop there! Its quite surprising really that there isn't any, well there is one in Pontypridd but I haven't been there yet, so not sure if they have much, I think it's also a whole foods style store in the high street so may not have much. May have a look later this...

    Home brew supplies near Cardiff?

I prefer to go and buy supplies somewhere so I have been looking for home brew suppliers near me in South Wales. I actually work in Cardiff part of thr week so assumed it would be easy to find a supplier somewhere in the city, but there doesn't seem to be any independent suppliers I can find...

Can i brew an AG recipe in 2 to 3 stages?

Sounds like I have started something here lol! The current situation is, I have one suitable pot to do a small mash in and one 25ltr fermentation vessel, so the idea of doing 2 slightly different 10ltr batches is actually quite a cool idea, but I don't have the equipment for that unfortunately...
