Back in after 20 yrs, a few questions.

Im not a big fan of fruity beers personally so I don't have much experience with them. As for drinking to free up more bottles, that is where I am at the moment, it's not a bad thing of course lol! My mate is collecting bottles for me and I have all I need to bottle the stout, but I will be...

    Cider??

After this thread reminded me, I ordered this: https://do-it-at-home.co.uk/en/clearance/3437-mangrove-jacks-cider-kit-blueberry-24kg-no7-bbe-022023-9421025512612.html Its a little beyond its BBE date but at this price was worth a punt.

    Cider??

Check this link out, quite interesting, not the raspberry one, but close enough for info. I am looking to do a Mangrove Jacks Cider kit next, maybe a fruit one, and after watching this review, I think I will go the extra for the MJ enhancer. Probably easier than using juice plus it should...

Back in after 20 yrs, a few questions.

Checked my stout day 10 and it is at 1012, so it is on a go slow as well. It still has a bit of bubble so is still working, I think it is because I don't have temp control and it is sitting at 20 degrees.

Back in after 20 yrs, a few questions.

The yeast will have consumed all the sugar during fermentation then finish up what you add to the bottle for carbonation. I think the type of yeast used can change dryness. Some will be more efficient than others. Mine went down to 1006, which is quite dry I would imagine, but it works well...

Back in after 20 yrs, a few questions.

It was actually quite good, a little more hop than I would like but not to the level I would find intolerable. My partner really liked it, she said it reminder her of San Miguel, happy with that comparison. A little dash of lemonade is very very nice! Plenty of carbonation too, little video...

I do wonder how long this could possibly go on so I no longer have to ignore it....

What fermentation temp control swings are acceptable?

No apple flavours with mine either, just a bitter lager

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Bristol is a great place for a night out, was down there a couple of weeks ago, just to jump off a crane unfortunately rather than a proper night out though lol!

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Absolutely, already have an Irish stout 7 days into fermentation and as soon as that's bottled, I'm getting a cider going....then maybe another lager, just need enough bottles to put it all in so need to consume as quickly as I brew lol!

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

My first pint of my first ever brew, Coopers Lager with Novalager yeast and hersbrucker hops, really quite nice, quite like San Miguel of all things but a stronger hop finish, very pleased with it!

Better brew Czech pilsner kit help!

Ah lol, well that could well be something that's affected it! If it helps, just poured my coopers lager and it's actually OK after all, not too hoppy either

Back in after 20 yrs, a few questions.

I actually have a coopers irish stout on the go and thar was going good guns within a couple of hours but after maybe 3 days it has died down quite significantly. That's sitting at about 20 degrees also, a bit low really so maybe it's on a go slow now. I'm going to leave it 11 days before I go...

Brainstorming about ways of recapturing CO2 from fermentation

I have little to add to the argument, other than, what a brilliant post! It kind of sums up why I'm enjoying brewing so much, who knew there was so much science involved! Yes, I'm a bit of a geek!

    Heat wave.. Are You ready?

Well I have plenty of shorts, sun cream and a lager about ready to drink, so I am well prepared, if that's what you are thinking?? lol

Better brew Czech pilsner kit help!

I guess it is important to make sure the fermentation has actually ended and not just stalled, and to work that out, you would need to identify a few things as said above. What yeast have you used and what temp is it at? 1018 would suggest it either hasn't finished or has stalled, for a lager...

Better brew Czech pilsner kit help!

Is that reading 1018 or there abouts? A couple of other things to consider, its been kind of warm, what yeast was it? If a genuine lager yeast, it tends to ferment at a lower temp and if it gets too warm it can stall. I used novalager ueast in mine as it will ferment at room temp and I don't...
