What are you drinking tonight 2023.

The first bottle of my stout made with chocolate malt, its actually very good indeed and still quite young, just over 3 weeks in the bottle. Happy with this!

Gone English cider next, a lot more tart than the Ddraig. Once again, my mate is a clown...

Something a bit lighter from Gwynt Y Ddraig...

    Cider stinks

Ah, mine is already in the bottle so I hoped it would be as simple as passing through a copper pipe, but I guess not...either way, it won't waste, I don't like waste! The only cider I have ever actually wasted was a beetroot cider, tasted like dirty rain water!!

    Cider stinks

How long does it need to be in contact with the copper?

Trying this now, 7.4%, quite a nice local cider this one! Ignore my ***** mates rude gesture lol!

    Cider stinks

That's a bit annoying really as it's from a kit there should be enough nutrients in the kit for the supplied yeast, if that is the issue of course. Its very subtle really but its there. The only other thing I can think of is temp control, but it was a pretty steady 21°c... Guess I will juat...

Like the looks of that, will be trying my Irish Stout with chocolate malt and demerara sugar on Saturday, tastes good before bottling so I am looking forward to this one!

    Scum

I do appreciate the importance of old historical buildings such as this. However, my work means I deal with many people who end up in contact with the law for incidents from vandalism and theft to threatening behaviour, drug offences and assault, but very rare is it that any of them face much...

    Cider stinks

Thanks for that, does set my mind at ease. It's not super strong as some others have experienced, just a hint in the background. Flavour ignoring the sulphur smell isn't bad at all and it's only a couple of weeks old, so maturity will hopefully help👍

    Cider stinks

Sorry for a bit of a late thread revival, but I just bottled a mangrove jacks craft blueberry cider kit and had a slight sulphur smell/flavour to it. It's been 2 weeks in the FV and finished on 1012 from 1058, so seems to have finished to the kit description. Reading this has kind of made me...

    turbo cider

Lovely thanks! When you say 140ml, is that to a 4.5ltr batch?

    turbo cider

Like the sounds of that recipe...

    turbo cider

Thanks for that, I think I just need to get a small batch 4.5ltr experiment on the go and try a few tabs, I have plenty of them here as the partner uses them. At the worst, I have cider with a tang, not like its hateful, just not keen, but it wouldn't go to waste!!

    What was your first car?

Well, my first car was a Lada Riva 1.3 Estate in cream, pretty much identical to this one, was not at all cool back in the day! My first cool car was the XR2i, the pic is the actual car, loved that thing...

    turbo cider

What tablets do you use? I have been looking to do a turbo cider at some point and was considering sweetening with Xylitol as that seems to have the closes flavour to real sugar without that after taste, at least thats what my research has suggested. Do you get any after taste with tabs? I...
