10 Day Fermentation Ending, But I need to Travel?

Maybe I have a wrong mental model of what's happening. In my undersytanding the yeast do their thing during primarythen when they have consumed the fermentables and/or reached their max ABV they either die or go dormant, and in eithe rcase settle to the bottom. So it seems to me that if all the...

10 Day Fermentation Ending, But I need to Travel?

I'm puzzled : if I leave the brew in the FV for over 2 weeks before bottling, I see that I am likely to get a clearer and cleaner brew - but doesn't that effect the secondary fermentation during conditioning? I've noticed that my brews are often a bit flatter when I leave them longer before...

    Birds in my garden

We spotted a Jay a week or two ago - possibly a pair. Never seen anything quite like it, cappuccino coloured body, magpie striped tail and a blue flash. Seems to have moved on now.

Mangrove Jack Irish red ale help

I wonder if I have been doing something wrong then - I have left a few of my brews for longer in the FV before bottling (due to either (a) FG being higher than expected /(b) procrastination / (c) laziness ) and I have been finding my brews coming out a bit flat. Adding priming sugar as usual...

    Silver spoon sugar cubes

Yep, I too just put the sugar in a jug with either some water or a bit of the brew, microwave for a minute and stir to dissolve the sugar, pour into my bottling bucket (which has a tap), syphon the beer into the bottling bucket from the FV, making sure that the end of the syphon tube is beneath...

    Netflix Series.

Tried an episode of Schitts Creek, not impressed. Community is engaging, and can develop some pretty surreal and funny plot lines. Very short episodes.

    Preparing bottles for bottling.

ASAP after pouring, rinse under tap. Store the bottles in crate/box with flip-tops open (so I know they haven't yet been through the next step) Shortly before bottling blitz the bottles on the dishwashe's hotest programme (70 deg) - no detergent - and close the flip tops while hot. Collect...

Starting handles -- second car we had, 1958 Morris Minor 803cc split screen. No heater, flip-out indicators. Drove it to Europe to visit my grandma on her 80th, with a one yearold babby in a carry-cot on the back seat. Took a few goes to get it running as we were coming off the Harwich-to-Hook...

Going round the neighbourhood knocking on doors with my best mate, aged about ten, with a bucket and sponge asking people if they wanted their car washed for half a crown. A week's pocket money, that was.

    Bottle wand very slow

I like the idea of the dishwasher door as a drip-catcher, but my brews live in a different room and I wouldn't be lugging the barrel through from the brewroom to the kitchen... I too have wondered about the non-linear behaviour of the bottling wand. I have been trying to develop a sense for the...
