Hi! I'm not far from you (SO31); I used to buy stuff from a local shop in Fareham when I was working just by M27 Junction 8, but sadly he couldn't compete with tinternet. and closed down - this was prior to Covid. Where is your local now? Can't contribute to any AG discussions, I am still at...

    Leaving StarSan/ChemSan in a corny?

What sort of FV and connections do you need to have for that scenario? (I've just got my first keg, moving up from a simple buckets-and-bottles scenario)

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

They do a nice Flower Pots at my "local", The Roll Call in Netley. I say "local" 'cos I can walk there and back, even though I haven't been in a pub for what feels like donkeys years.

I have to say, I am wondering if I can sneak a fridge into the garage wihtout it being noticed ... - butit would mean moving out some of the accumulated cr@p that has collected there over the years! So when you do pressure fermenting, does that mean you basically just transfer the brew...

Oooh, that's a bit of a step up from a bucket with a bubbler, isn't it? I just switched over from a fermentation lock to a blow-off tube the last couple of brews (*) but I think pressure fermentation means you need a FermZilla or somesuch,I imagine. That migt have to wait a little while ...

Agreed about the first point re finding a 6Kg bottle - I fired off a couple of email queries locally and got zilch back so far. I didn't quite follow "... and the regulator is a bit more than what you can get away with" at first - then I sussed that I think you just mean a 6Kg bottle plus reg...

Thanks for that - a couple of very useful tips there TETB. I certainly wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for this forum.

I'm thinking I will probably go for making a completely by-the-book kit to start with - I got a Bad Cat and an Evil Dog from the Kegged clearance back in July so one of those feels like it could be a nice idea. I'l probably be popping up in due course asking more questions... And yes, I...

Got the single 19L keg with a Pluto gun hand tap and SodaStream convertor - will use SodaStream to begin with and then probably move to a grown up CO2 can when I can find one nearby. I talked to Jonny about my unused S30 but it's not compatible with their regulator and they don't have a...

Mine's getting delivered tomorrow which is pretty awesome. I haven't actually got anything ready to put in it yet :/ (It's all a bit sudden. MsVC saw a keg on my Amazon wishlist and I got a note in an envelope on my birthday saying "get a bit of brewing equipment. This paper will self destruct...

No trucks, CO2 and Christmas is cancelled.

I was gobsmacked when I heard that CO2 is crucial to the industry for using for "humane slaughtering". I imagine I'd rather be tasered unconscious instantly than gradually suffocated in a gas chamber. Speaking as a non meat eater I leave my opinion of this excuse as an exercise for the reader.

Yeah, that is where I got the confusion. On the BKT site: "You will be able to dispense about 1-2 full kegs (including carbonation) using a full sodastream cylinder (contains 425g of CO2). A larger (more expensive and heavy) 6kg cylinder will dispense over ten times this. Both cylinders cost...

Thanks Rod that makes more sense. I don't know where I got that two-keg idea from. Maybe got it muddled with the SodaStream

Bit of both I suppose. I tend to be impatient and want to try the new brew ASAP but also I do know that it gets better if I can keep my hands off it. It's more a case of when it gets fully cleared, fully carbed and drinkable. But I think I recall seeing that a CO2 bottle could last just a couple...

Ah, I was recalling reading a suggestion that you should do priming in keg to economise on the CO2 used.

I sent Jonny a maillast night asking about S30 cylinders. Probably sending off an order this morning. Funnily enough I was just starting to wonder last night about just how cleaning happens, especially considering there will be settlement in the keg due post-priming conditioning. I will search...

Amazing. After the first couple of replies above I kind of felt my inner uncertainty about Corny kegs confirmed - "OMG there's so much stuff to deal with" - but then read a few more responses, went to look at BKT, and I think I am gonna go for one of their get-you-started kits. There's one that...

Thank you HB that is very clear and informative and makes it much clearer to me what's involved in a corny setup.
