Picture or Video of the day.

Once we flew to Malaga for a week's holiday. I booked a hire car on line to pick up at the airport, and because we were staying in a reneted house in a little village in the hills I thought getting a Smart Car would be cool. MrsVC's face when she saw the car was not a happy sight. And trying to...

    CO2 in Southampton area

I looked at T&J Installations web site before, it did not look like they did simple CO2 provision for the home brewer, only big bar installations and "solutions". I've sent them an inquiry and we'll see how we get on!

    R.I.P Thread.

Bamber Gascoigne CBE 24 January 1935 - 8 February 2022 I remember watching him on Uni Challenge when it was in black and white and students wore jackets and ties. Inherited an estate from a 99 year old Duchess auntie and let Grange Park Opera build an opera house there in the woods.

    Another bloomin keg thread

All the calculations I have seen for beer line length have temperature as one of the variables - does this mean that if I don't have a kegerator and my keg is at 'room temperature' then there's no perfect beer line length, and the delivered beer may be too lively or too flat depending simply on...

    You couldn't make it up.

Moral: don't try carjacking a freakin' big SUV when you're in a wimpy hatchback

    Heat mats.

Cautionary note re electric blankets (and nothing to do with water) : if you do go this way don't have the blanket folded or scrumpled up in any way. My daughter had one which she kicked into a lump overnight, didn't make the bed (of course), turned on the following night, fell asleep ... we...

    CO2 in Southampton area

Hi, I've tried searching for CO2 suppliers in my area since I got my first keg last September. Did not have much joy - lots of no replies to my web-form enquiries or emails. I don't really want to carry on with SodaStream having had a couple of mishaps! I just got a quote today from the 'Socal...

    Interesting one today - Wordle 222 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Bit of an inspired guess - 1 brown, 3 brown, 5 green. I wish the 'share/copy' thing worked a bit better.

    Two-can fermentation stuck on 1017?

I think you guys are right, what you get in a one-can kit doubled up is not the same as what you get in a commercial two-tin like Wherry. So more 'complex sugars' = less fermentibles, more body / higher FG in the final brew.. I got the cans on a silly deal from KegThat so I'll get a pretty...

    Two-can fermentation stuck on 1017?

@DavidDetroit yes, I took a can and instead of adding a kilo of sugar added a second can of the same. I'd read a bit about people doing 'toucans', particularly on Aussie brewing sites, as well as here (this thread, this one which specifically talks about toucans with Morgan's stout amongst...

    Two-can fermentation stuck on 1017?

I did think the temperature seemed hot too, but figured that if that's what Mr Morgan recommended then the yeast must be up for it. I might try adding a bit more fermentable to see if it does anything - but the attenuation seems low (62.5% according to BrewSpy) , I'm not sure if I want to be...

    Two-can fermentation stuck on 1017?

Hello, I started a doubled-up brew of Morgan's Australian Old Ale a few days ago. Over the first few hours it went *up* from 1038 to 1047 - I imagine it was just not thoroughly mixed. Then brewed very quickly, going down to 1017 in about 28 hours. And has stopped there. I would usually leave a...

    Are jugs a bit 'non-U'?

I have quite often had the same issue of a frothy bottle giving more than a glassful of beer + foam. Sometimes I have the forethought to have a second glass to hand. Sometimes I have the forethought to use a jug, but there isn't usually a jug of suitable size around. Sometimes I pour it into a...

    The art of parking.

Regarding cars being parked in more than one bay .... presumably if it's a 'pay and display' car park the driver could be penalised for not having two pay&display tickets, one for each bay! That would learn 'em...

    The art of parking.

It's gonna depend a lot on the sophistication of the software. There are (or used to be) some very naíve matching algorithms. Made it difficult to write posts referencing bars in Scunthorpe for example.

    WEIRDEST WINE EVER MADE?

Getting off topic here, but I have a nephew in Edinburgh who works as a 'mixologist'. My sister tells me he has been experimenting with making milk-based vodka...

    The art of parking.

... although to be fair, in the second picture the one in the middle did not have much option given the way the other two were dropped... (asuming they were there first, that is)
