    What are you reading ?

I found Klara and The Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro a bit of a let down tbh. I had loved The Remains of the Day, but Klara didn't quite do it for me. Just started (well, part way through) Luna : New Moon, firt in the Luna series by Ian McDonald, following a glowing review I read on line. Pretty good so...

    What was your first car?

First car I bought was a half share in a Mini, bought together with a mate at Uni. He then drove it into a ditch as we were driving back to Reading from the seller's house :-(

No iSpindel data showing up after battery recharge

Curious - after a day, without me doing anything to the unit, it connected up to my wifi same as it had done before.I have noo idea why it did now when it had not done before. The perversity of the inanimate.

No iSpindel data showing up after battery recharge

Oh I fished it out already. I don't think this brew is going to be doing anything much now. Yeah, I bought this one already-configured so I've never done the reset-and-log-in exercise; could be interesting I suppose. I do hope it hasn't lost the plot completely!

No iSpindel data showing up after battery recharge

Hi, I started a brew recently, charged up the iSpindel and dropped it in, everything chugged away for about 6 days then the battery ran out. I made a mental note to fish the iSpindel out and recharge it at the weekend, then went and got ill for a while. Yesterday I : retrieved the iSPindel...

How long can I leave the beer in the FV

Started 14 Jan, OG 1050 InkBird set to 22 degC Stabilised by 22 Jan at 1006, add dry hops Bottle 28 Jan, add 90g priming sugar as a syrup with syringe - so probably a bit eager with the sampling. Bottles still sitting in a warmish utility room.

How long can I leave the beer in the FV

I used the priming sugar provided in the kit - 90g for the Suffolk, 120g for the Belgian if I recall correctly, each for a 23l brew (about 21.5 bon bottling) I had wondered if leaving the brew in the FV for a significant time after primary fermentation finished would mean that the yeast...

How long can I leave the beer in the FV

My last couple of brews, I've left in the FV for 14 days (latest; Youngs Old Suffolk Ale) and 21 days (previous; Youngs Belgian Style Pale Ale) - they both bottomed out on the iSpindel gravity reading quite early i.e. sat in the FV for at least 7 days after the gravity settled at final level...

    Back to the Hobby

I'd consider using the extract cans as additional fermentables in place of other sugars/extracts for a regular kit; or put together a malt extract with a Wilko kit to make a toucan.

Yes. All the media luvvies are saying how funny he was in Harry Potter but thet's like remembering Alec Guinness for being in Star Wars

    The Undrinkables

I had a Bramley apple tree in the back garden at our last house which had a massive crop every other year. One year I thought "there's only so much apple pies, crumbles, snows, fools, chutneys you can make" and started gathering the windfalls as they arrived. When I had a bagfull I blitzed them...

    Happy Solstice All

Saw from my daugghter's Facebook page that she went there on a whim last night. Sure did look like a lot of people. Somebody asked if she had to pay to go in. Apparently there was no charge to go in to the area of the stones, but a £15 car park fee. Ker-ching.
