    Flow control taps

That’s interesting foxy - is this the same Brad that was involved with Vent-Matic? I was reading an interesting brulosophy article about him if he is indeed the same chap. It seems like you know a lot about him, do you know what happened to Vent-Matic or why they suddenly went quiet...

    Flow control taps

Thanks guys - really interesting to read about your experiences. I don’t think I’d buy a keg or regulator from AliExpress due to the severity of problems which could occur if they were to be faulty, but at the end of the day a tap’s a tap. Identical copy or not it works great, so I’m not...

    Flow control taps

I think you’ve discussed this on another forum - or someone else has. I don’t believe them to be ‘forgeries’. The tap I received is an Intertap tap - or if it isn’t someone has gone to an immense amount of trouble to make an exact copy of an Intertap tap that is made out the same materials (or...

    Flow control taps

I went for regular SS intertaps without flow control for a couple of reasons. 1. I prefer the look of the standard taps 2. The standard taps can be fitted with a self-closing spring, the flow control model can’t I use a flow control disconnect, which means I get the benefit of flow control...

Homebrew Supplies - Yeast, Hops and Grain!

Hi @BenParr! I went to place an order for 250ml of ChemSan and x2 packets of yeast and postage has been calculated at £4... is this correct? On your website it says lightweight orders are £1 and standard orders are £3. Is postage charged per item type? Thanks for taking a look at this for me -...

    School opening. [poll]

Hi Terry - sorry I should have been more specific. I wasn’t suggesting that the act of just wearing something over your mouth and nose will offer 100% protection from coronavirus, I was making the general point that masks provide some level of protection for the user, but not necessarily others...

    School opening. [poll]

All masks will protect the user Chippy. Valved masks only protect the user, not those around them, so are useless for stopping spread of the virus if the individual is infected. Surgical masks will protect both the user and others around them.

'hot' brewing lager under pressure in a corny?

I ferment under pressure, like peebee, to naturally carbonate my beer. I tend to do IPAs and haven’t done a lager. I find most of the murk drops out when cold crashing

    What hops should I sell?

I’d agree with everyone else on the bittering side - I always go for magnum. I also only really use pelletised hops. For late additions my favourites are all from NZ, so may be more difficult to get. Other hops I really like and use often are: Simco Amarillo Centennial Mosaic EKG The biggest...

    Carbonating in the keg

There is a mk.II version which is neater as it includes an in-built gauge. I went for the older style as Kegland state the larger gauge is more reliable. From memory the in-built gauges in the mk.II model can be out by as much as 10% of the max psi - so a 5psi range on the 25psi gauge and a...

    Carbonating in the keg

I got it from AliExpress. Here’s a link to the seller I used who were great. It got to me in about 3-4 weeks and was in original KegLand packaging. The £11 included postage IIRC https://h5.aliexpress.com/item/32975725308.html

    Carbonating in the keg

Hi HB, I spund my beer, which means putting an adjustable pressure release valve on after the first day or two of fermentation and allowing the CO2 produced by fermentation to naturally carbonate the beer (and also purge my serving kegs). The reasons I do this rather than force carbonate are...

    mini kegs

I also really like the look of the 10L mini kegs from BKT and have just ordered a couple. They are a bit more expensive than some others I have seen but the quality of the welds looks very good and after reading some horror stories about certain mini kegs on one of the other forums I’d rather...

    mini kegs

Kegland do a very reasonable secondary regulator which you could sit between the CO2 and each keg to individually adjust the pressure depending on what you’re drinking. https://brewkegtap.co.uk/products/inline-secondary-regulator

Batch priming vs adding sugar to bottles

This is exactly what I did when I used to bottle and it works really well. I liked it as it was both easier than using dry sugar and also allowed me to experiment easily with different volumes of CO2 so I could try a style at higher or lower carbonation

    Wedding ring mishap with FV

Just as an aside, if you did use true surgical gloves they would be sterile until you touched something. Surgical gloves are really expensive, and double wrapped in a packet you have to open like a pack you get chops in from the supermarket. I think you probably mean examination gloves, which...
