    Brew fridge questions

Hi! I hold the sensor against the outside of the fermentation vessel (FV) using a kitchen sponge scourer and a bungee cord. For bottle conditioning I leve the sensor hanging in the fridge.

    Brew fridge questions

Hi @Ian A Welcome to the forum. When you say thermometer, do you use a temperature sensor and an electronic controller? If so, the sensor is fastened to the FV, under bubble wrap (or similar), to monitor the temperature of the brew, rather than the air temperature.

Failed London Garden Bridge project cost £53m

Hi! As the bridge was for London, why not charge it to the taxpayers of that lovely city? Why should I pay for it? It's like the Sheffield Supertram - Doncaster ratepayers had to stump up for part of the cost and it goes nowhere near Doncaster. Lions led by donkeys!

    Thick or thin mash?

Hi! I've read that German brewers use a much thinner mash. I used a thin mash in my RIMS system. http://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php/Infusion_Mashing

    Cleaning FV etc

Hi @Drunkula I missed your post and link. It's an interesting read - the only thing to remember is that US bleach is probobly much stronger than UK bleach. The cheap bleach that I use is only 0.99% chlorine, so a calculation is needed to get to a 80 parts per million solution. In an audio blog...

Should the school day start later.

Hi! Found this online: On average, an English primary teacher's starting salary is around £19,600. After ten years this reaches around £28,700. Supply teachers on the same pay scale earn more per day than a full-time teacher because they don't work in the holidays. A full-time teacher's salary...

    Is the end nigh?

Hi @AdeDunn Well said! If we've learned anything from history it's that greed has caused all the nasty things that have happened to our planet and species. We have people starving in one country while in another food is being thrown away - that's criminal.

Should the school day start later.

Hi! Speaking as a retired teacher, I would suggest that the little f***ers get hauled out of bed and booted all the way to school. @Gunge - just a reminder that teachers don't get paid for the 12 weeks holiday tha they are compelled to take each year.
