    Acid choice

I've used lactic acid in the past, been using CRS/AMS recently though, but for the brew I did yesterday (a fake Helles/festbier) I used lactic again (4.5mls in 26 litres of water). Never tasted the lactic acid in any of my brews in the past, but I believe that there is a point where you start...

    My Brewzebo

Cool, be good if anybody else brewing outside in a gazebo posts pics too, maybe give folks unsure the inspiration to give it a try. athumb.. Not all of us can have a shed. lol

    Bleach with a Fermzilla

Honestly, no idea why it's not that effective with wild yeasts, I just know from experience that it isn't. I had 2 brews get infected with the Speidel FV, and only put a stop to it after tearing it down, including taking the tap apart, and soaking it in a strong VWP solution. Used it since, no...

    Ade's Brauheld Pro Brewdays

Brewed a fake hybrid between a Munich Helles and a festbier yesterday, currently fermenting with Omega labs Lutra kveik. I don't have the energy for a full write up this time (been suffering with migraine, so kinda on pain killers right now), but here's some photos. Grindy grindy Full on...

    Bleach with a Fermzilla

When my Speidel got an infection in it it was a wild yeast, which starsan wont touch, so I had to nuke it with VWP, taking the tap apart etc and soaking it all so it all got exposed to it. I've used VWP on my Fermentasaurus too when the yeast I used refused to come off after soaking it in PBW...

    Degassing beads

I've only degassed mead, and a wine kit one time. Used a commercial wand to do the job, steel with 2 plastic arms that flip out at the sides, worked a treat. I've had mead in the past that hadn't been degassed, to call it a bit harsh would be an understatement. I rarely brew mead these days...

    My Brewzebo

I've posted about this before, however with a few discussions recently that have ended up with folks recommending brewing outside, I figured now is a good time to mention this again. I switched to brewing outside myself this time around, and purchased a Gazebo from Amazon for the purpose, one...

    Taste before conditioning.

The book says to condition for 6 weeks at 12 degrees C, might be worth a try. It's possibly just a bit young, although 27 degrees C is a bit on the high side, I only ever took Belle Saison to 24 degrees C myself.

Your experience with PET Pressure Fermenters - Open Discussion - feedback invited

I won't be using Lallemand Voss in mine ever again I know that!! Stuff sticks to the PET like super glue, especially at krausen height. Took soaking in PBW then VWP to get it all off, and was still difficult as you can't get your arm in there to give it a good rub. So note to self, avoid...

    Condensation in garage

A big fan to blow the steam out through the door maybe? This why my wife kicked me out into the back garden under a gazebo, as even with a massive extractor hood condensation still ran down the walls, especially in winter. lol Covering them you'll just end up with it dripping on you, or worst...

    What’s this cheeky chappy called?

Can you imagine how confused as a nation we would have been had we still been innocents by the lyrics "bluffin with my muffin"? We would have had some image of somebody trying to confuse people with their bread roll, maybe trying to convince them that it was actually a cob.... athumb..

    What’s this cheeky chappy called?

It's a bread roll (baps are larger). Teacakes have fruit in them and are usually served lightly toasted.... Barm cake is up there with pattie lot, please just stop saying it. Muffins are indeed of flattened profile, floured and have a slightly coarse texture (Americans call them...

    Ubbe or Lutra Kveik

I have some Omega Lutra waiting in the fridge for my next brew day, which will be very soon. Just need to get my Orange infused cascade pale ale bottled first...

    Ade's Brauheld Pro Brewdays

FG sample taken of the Orange infused cascade pale ale today (Squirrel Brows), basically I took the collection bottle off. lol FG of 1.012. As to the flavour, pretty good my wife and I both agreed. Zesty orange flavours are very much there, with a good level of bitterness, with hints of...

Name your favourite shop bought beers.

One of my new local breweries has started doing a plum beer now, so if I can track it down I'll give that a try. Plum Pig, from Black Country Ales. From wha t I can gather, it's a plum mild... Titanic is only really in supermarkets around here sadly, there's way more BCA, Holdens etc here...

Name your favourite shop bought beers.

Plum porter WOULD have been on my list, but last couple of times I've had it it's not been anywhere near as nice as it used to be back when it was seasonal. I still remember getting bought a case for my birthday one year, and picking it up from a local (lived in Stafford at the time) Titanic...

    Klarstein introduce a pro version

Yup, I brew 14 litres a time, so the 30 litre one was perfect for me. Still getting to grips with it though, so my last brew I only hit 61% BH efficiency. But then, I only stirred once, and it was a super easy, lazy brew day... So still a win.

    Brew builder

Yeah, fairly decent, you don't want too much for a basic pale ale. If you want a bit more malt flavour, it's simple enough to swap in a bit of something like some Munich.

    Yet another sparging gadget...

Looks like the tubing and fitting ro-man sells, just by the by.

Name your favourite shop bought beers.

It's just so easy to drink! Must get around to re-brewing the clone I did that time, was spot on as it's super easy to clone. No obscure yeasts or anything in there.
