Help making a re circulation pump

Already did, take a look at the photo, a few posts back, of an actual ACE modded with re-circ, with all the parts you need right there in the photo.... Even named the actual pump used in another post. Nice try though.

    My Brewzebo

Yeah, I can't put mine up (or take it down) on my own, takes 3 of us. lol Luckily I have my wife and 2nd oldest daughter to lend a hand. ;) As I mentioned though, it survived the storms we had, with winds up to about 47mph ish.. I brewed during ones of them.... lol Although I reckon the...

    Electric Enclosure for Control Panel

Plastic can work fine. That one is a project box, with a sealing gasket. SSRs go on a heatsink, routing the heat produced out of the box. Metal housings you need to make sure you earth the housing too though, otherwise you increase the risk of getting a jolt of it. Cabling inside I used the...

Help making a re circulation pump

I got my little pump from Brewbuilder for £47.50 plus the cost of a PSU. It handles some solids, and you control the flow with a tape on the output. Flow is pretty decent with them (TS5-mini mag) and the 1/2" BSP fittings on them are stainless steel. Buffers, you are massively...

Name a Beer that makes you go WOW!!

Sto Hellit After Dinner Porter:- Seriously need to brew it again this year, it was a stunner. Was a mint chocolate porter, and truly delicious.

    Nespresso for beer’

Yeah, this is just a way to market the good old extract kit at people who don't already home brew. I went to their actual site, and I'm not even sure that the extract packs include yeast, as it says you have to add this. Basically seems to be an FV, with some kind of built in filtration, and a...

    Ade's Brauheld Pro Brewdays

That's an idea, as it's way too strong. Been using Minch Hookhead pale for a long time now, and grew to much prefer the flavour with it, but now I've used MO again, I can actually appreciate how bland a malt it actually is, and how I've been adding my malt flavour with things like Munich (love...

    My Brewzebo

Somebody is going to come along soon, with one covered in palm fronds, with torches outside, and be informed that it's a Brewiki.... lol

Help making a re circulation pump

I modded an ACE with recirc once. It won't increase mash efficiency all that much, what it does do is help maintaining a more even mash temperature through the grist.

Yup, my target was 1.042, I overshot after the boil and ended up diluting to 1.045. I used Liberty Bell back then, I hadn't started using liquid yeasts at that point. I noted it was good for the flavour profile, but I was never entirely happy with it's adhesion to bottles. If you could find a...

    Ade's Brauheld Pro Brewdays

Just poured the first 2 bottles of the orange infused pale ale (for my wife, I'm not drinking as recovering from a nasty cluster migraine). It was fermented with Voss after all... lol Still a little haze there, I believe from the yeast as the wort was crystal clear into the FV. Flavour...

    Bleach with a Fermzilla

Yes, had to use it last time as the yeast ring refused to come off until I did. It wasn't for extended contact time overly though.

    Klarstein mash kettle grain basket?

If you are getting overflow, 1 of 2 things (or both) is probably happening: 1) you're getting a stuck mash, try adding some oat husks/rice hulls (4% usually, rinse well) to improve circulation through the grain bed, 2) you're trying to run with the re-circ valve fully open, try slowing it down a...

    My Brewzebo

Good idea boiling outside. Back when I had my ACE, I used to mash 1 end of the room, lauter into an FV bucket, then move my ACE to the other end under the hood for the boil, as yeah it's the boil that's the problem, mashing only gives off a little bit of vapour. I wouldn't want to do that any...

Name your favourite shop bought beers.

Ach, no, nor I. I remember actually liking that stuff in my younger years.... lol My second oldest actually really likes their 0% stuff, but then she can't stand beer, so what does that say? lol Anyway, yeah, recipe in this thread. It was a little tiny bit hazy (I posted a comparison with a...

    Condensation in garage

Not saying it's on a par with a commercial hood (those things are huge), but the cooker hood we have is a big stainless steel thing, with a massive extractor unit up inside it, and it didn't come close on doing the job. The normal hoods are those slim things that take disposable filters aren't...

Name your favourite shop bought beers.

If you do AG, brew your own bud. The recipe I used was absolutely spot on for the good stuff that you used to get on draught, and the bottles back when they used to be good too. My wife and I used to drink Hobgoblin Gold in a tiny little pub not far from us, before Marstons sold it to a...

    Bleach with a Fermzilla

VWP doesn't need to be heated, I use it in cold water regularly. I don't use hot water in anything except my boiler, which is where I use PBW hot, and it's a PITA as this means I have to rinse hot too. I use PBW at about 30/35 degrees C in my Fermentasaurus usually, well below the max water...

    My Brewzebo

No garage here, and at some point before moved in some neighbours attempted to dismantle the small brick "shed at the bottom of the garden, and what's left of the roof is full of holes and on it's way out... It's still full of tools etc though, like my electric cultivator (aka that thing that...

    Condensation in garage

Whoever painted our kitchen DIDN'T use a proper kitchen paint.... My wife is still on my case from the mess I made over a year ago, which was when I last brewed in there.... One day we'll repaint it and remove the streaks.... Seriously, have a look at the Brewzebo thread I started in the...
