    pressing grapes

Hi I am an experienced brewer but I have recently planted 20 vines and perhaps this year or certainly next there will be enough grapes to start making wine. Can anyone give me advice on how to extract the juice without spending a fortune on a press? Thanks in anticipation.

Woodfordes Wherry leaking from barrel in fridge

It's a bit late now but often the moulding where the tap screws into the barrel is faulty and you cannot screw the tap in tightly because the end is touching a piece of plastic which needs to be cut out with a scapel or sharp knife. Take the barrel out of the fridge lay it on its side so that...

    Lager yeast - fermenting temps.

Ferment at 10-12 degrees. 4° would be about right for lagering for four weeks.

    Corny serving loads of foam

I think the answer is to invest in a tap with a variable compensator built in. With the 'party tap' you are using it is difficult to pour a perfect pint.

    eggy brew but tastes better???

Hi Did you rinse thoroughly after? In my experience lots of off tastes are caused by not rinsing out the steryliser notably with VWP which can give a taste like TCP

    Clearing before a cornie

Keep it at about 18° for a week or so before moving to the cool. Why use loads of bottled gas to force carb beats me. This way is cheaper and the beer tastes better as it matures. Just make sure you seal the lid with a burst of gas as it will not seal properly with the gas produced by the slow...
