    Weiss Beer Kit

I love Wheat/Weiss beers, every other brew is one. I did a couple of these early days and they were the best Weiss Bier kits I’ve bought. Most of the rest make you add sugar etc… and are a bit thin. Cost is the only thing that made me move on. Firstly to 3kg of wheat DME , a small hop...

    CML Beòir Yeast Overattenuating

I’ve used this yeast twice. First time dropped from 1.045 to 1.006, second got stuck on 1.014 eventually got down to 1.012. Two different packets, was expecting the 2nd brew to drop as far until I actually read the attenuation levels. Strange.

    Porter - Coffee Addition

I read loads before I committed to how I added the coffee. But really your extracting oils like dry hopping so I went with that. Pretty sure you can get results using extract, liquids, etc... but bunging something in a bag and leaving it to steep , same process that happens before the other...

    Porter - Coffee Addition

I’ve made three different brews with great success adding 125g (in 23l) of ground coffee (for cafeteria’s) in a mesh bag, for 3-5 days after fermentation (to taste). I use a Aldi Columbian blend usually.

Mangrove Jacks Brewers Series 40 Pint Pilsner Fermenting Temperature?

I put all the stuff into a brew calculator and it worked out around 5.5% which seemed a nice strength. Plus it meant I used up full bags.

Mangrove Jacks Brewers Series 40 Pint Pilsner Fermenting Temperature?

Mine started at 1.050 ( kit +1kg brewing sugar +500g light DME) Put it in a water bath in a cool corner of the cellar. I’ve been popping a ice pack in when I remember. It’s been keeping 10-12 degrees. Started really slow 24 hrs plus of nothing. Then got really vigorous, with a eggy smell (made...

Mangrove Jacks Brewers Series 40 Pint Pilsner Fermenting Temperature?

I’m brewing the same kit and by chance with the same yeast as you have. The yeast that comes with the kit is the same as for all the brewers series and is ale yeast. I ditched this for m84 bohemian lager yeast and am fermenting at lager temperatures. Wanted to take advantage of the cooler...

    Bottling, sugar and carbonation drops

My first few brews I used carbonation tablets as I thought they would be easy. Depending upon brand they recommend different amounts of tablets, with 500ml bottles I couldn’t find a happy medium. now I use measuring spoons and normal ‘table’ sugar. 1/2 tsp (roughly 3G) for ipa’s or craft style...

What are you brewing for Christmas

Mocha milk stout 6.30% abv. 250g lactose, 125g filter coffee, 125g of cacao nibs into secondary (21l). Bottled a week ago 3g of priming sugar. Waiting’s killing me.

    Plastic or Glass Bottles?

Personally I find that my one PET bottle per batch (the rest are glass) doesn’t give me the same head retention or carbonation as the glass bottles. I’ll continue using the one PET bottle as it’s a useful aid. But all my matching glass bottles were great value as I bought them full of beer...
