Small batch AG Brews - Fermentation

Extra info, It was at 19c in my Fermzilla @ 10psi. after 3 days, It then dropped to 5 psi, so i suspect an air leak. so maybe it is still going but escaping from the seal and not the spunding valve.

Small batch AG Brews - Fermentation

Hello all, So my first AG brew was a small batch DIPA. See: https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/neil-brewday.85379/ My issue is, with my vast experience (2 kits) doing 23l batches, the fermentation takes over a week and the airlock activity slowly reduces as the days go by. My 12l...

    DHendy's Brewdays

Yeah seen that one on Ebay for £35, i priced the parts up and it's easy the same if not more. The wife will give me a hard time if I throw more money at gear, I need to make some beer first. :-)

lol, yeah, and the electric extension was on the floor too. My risk assessment is, I know from testing the electric safety in the house is top notch, so no risk to life. Low risk of the whole thing going over, but could happen. Keep myself within reach to manage risk. Once above 65c, they were...

Oh nice read and i really liked that you included both Mash thickness and information about your water treatment. I'll have to read some of "Strange Steve's" post. Which area is your brewing water from?

Yeah, I thought I was organised, but did not have a few things in place which threw me. Long term I want to be 100% in the garage as my bathroom is tiny, but the garage is not attached to the house so I would need to sort: 1. Ventilation / Extractor 2. A clean drinking water supply. 3. Sink and...

Extra info, My plan was to take lots of readings throughout the brew to understand PH level, Brewhouse efficiency & Mash efficiency. Did none of that :-( Did not even take my OG as I thought there would be a little left in the bottom, but had non left in the kettle. Cloudwater DIPA V13 Clone...

OK, so this is my first ever AG brew so maybe I should have expected a more stressful time than I originally predicted. I was going for a modified version of a Cloudwater DIPA clone. I edited the ingredients to be use standard 100g amounts of hops & the base malt to be a nice round number...

    First AG brew recipe review

NEIPA is my follow up, got different oats for that and wheat. An oats question coming soon!! The oats are just part of the recipe that I resized and modified. I'll post the numbers for the brewzilla tomorrow. This was a profile the calculator had pre defined and not my own numbers. I was...

    First AG brew recipe review

Oh good tips there, I like the "towels at hand" & "taps are closed" advice. I have been using brewfather. I was watching David Heath and he shares his recipes on that platform. I really like it from a user interface perspective. I'm new and only done a couple of kits and as my first FV, I...

    First AG brew recipe review

Morning all, This weekend I am going to attempt my first AG brew. I would like to do a small batch of my favourite beer style, a DIPA. Could you just review my recipe below. My main concern is due to my grain bill, my sparge water is on the low side. I also made a boo boo in my order and...

    First batch prime

So far I've only put my beer into a Keg forced carb, but would like to try PET bottles as this would help me share my home brew. Questions are: 1. Will a cold crash of the FV effect bottle priming? I'm thinking along the lines of the amount suspended yeast. 2. I ferment under pressure, so my...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

I have one of these in my FermZilla and can not wait to see how it turns out. Never made hop tea, will take a gravity reading today and see were we are. It only went on Friday night (10th), so we are 65 hours in. 21c @12psi

    Sheffield Home Brew Club

:-( I'm going to miss this one as away with business. I should have two brews to bring for the Feb meetup. My last extract: Bulldog's Evil Dog American Double IPA My first All Grain: SMASH Simcoe. I still have some mangrove jacks ipa, in my keg I need to move on. If anyone is in Eckington...

Mangrove's jack grapefruit pink ipa limited edition

I think it only took 3 to 4 days for mine to achieve final gravity from when I dry hoped. I kegged it straight away. The taste is great. "I think", the wort contains some concentrated grape fruit extract. So, the hops might not contribute as much to this as first thought.
