wow, boil off 9 litres of wort. How long will that take, 3 Hours?

I'll make it fit in the fridge.

My taller fridge is now the keggerator, so the smaller one needs to accommodate the fermzilla. 90% of the weight is on the main supporting shelf, 10% on the collection jar. Need to strengthen the shelf tomorrow, then it will take the full weight. Just using for a cold crash, but will fit the...

Best place for Corny kegs at the moment?

I bought a Premium Kegerator Kit with Nuketaps for £230 and thought that was super value for money. I added it all up individually and it came out way more. The two grade A kegs where top notch, with all brand new seals and spares. Plus, the great customer service BKT are known for. £57.50...

Ban on new petrol and diesel cars in UK from 2030 under PM's green plan

My commute to work is spot on 8 miles (one way), and I use my e-bike. It has kept me super fit, paid for itself and i'm looking forward to charging it via solar. Done over 10,000KM or 6213 miles. Could I live without a car, no. I hope the prices of greener vehicles comes down.

Beginner advice - journey to hitting numbers

On the water volume side of things....... I have a measuring jug, Wilko FV bucket, Brewzilla and Fermzilla that all have a volume scale on them. The first three all measured different. So I'd measured my strike water out in the wilko bucket, poured into the Brewzilla. This would be different...

    Sugar for Imperial Stout

I read your brew day posts on that 16% RIS, that was an epic read. Thank you for the time in writing that up. I'm defo going to Keg mine from the start. :D Oh, I'll have to try that with the muscovado sugar. I'll get some on order. Tomorrow I just want to change one variable which will be the...

    Sugar for Imperial Stout

Maybe Drunkula was referring to feeding the fermentation in stages with the sugar. Last weeks batch (1Kg) of inverted sugar came out red in colour and stayed in a syrup form. I am going to try again this friday and aim to get a very dark Maillard reaction, and it set solid when cooled.

    Sugar for Imperial Stout

I was watching David Heath Youtube channel and he had a Superfast Imperial Stout. It used dark Belgian Candi Sugar at just under 25% of the grist. I looked at ordering some and it is quite expensive stuff. However, a kilo of sugar from Aldi is 65p. So I made my own and it was not too hard. Fun...

    Brewzilla wort chiller connections

It is, but it looks like there is an adapter, which in the pictures looks like the grey insert to reduce the thread size.

    Circulation during fermentation

My last brew which I got the hops stuck in the collection jar, I picked the whole FermZilla up and shook it for 10 minutes. This got all the hops into suspension and was a good work out for the arms. My NEIPA which is in the keg now, tastes great.

    Circulation during fermentation

I was thinking of moving the Wort / Beer in the FV, from so that when I dry hop i could increase my hop utilization within my 2-3 day window. Since my FV is a FermZilla, oxygen exposure is not an issue. However, large amount of dry hops introduced via the collection jar sometimes get stuck...

Your experience with PET Pressure Fermenters - Open Discussion - feedback invited

Well as you can see above, I posted a picture of my FermZilla with the stress marks. I sent that picture to the company I purchased it from (BKT) to ask if it was still ok to use. The response was. Hi Neil, I'll get a replacement tank out to you and a replacement thicker lid seal tomorrow...

Yep, coming up to one year old. Love all the features of the new lid, would love those. :-) I sent a quick email to the uk supplier. See if they think it's ok to use under pressure since its never been over 12 psi.

Your experience with PET Pressure Fermenters - Open Discussion - feedback invited

I joined the home brew club last year and bought a Fermzilla gen 1 as part of my initial setup. Thus, i've only ever brewed under pressure. My up's and downs are: Downs: 1. The seal around the lid leaked and in the end I ordered some larger o-rings from china to fix it. 2. If you do a massive...

    Grainfather Mash efficiency

I guess your keeping an eye on your BU/GU ratio. Short answer from me is no. However you have got me thinking now. Saying that, I'm one of these people that never stick to the recipe.
